im not pretending to be an expert but i also owned a 2009 vitz and experienced the same problem. it ran fine for about 5000 kms (it was a fresh import) and then that really annoying braaaah kicked in and it started to knock as well sometimes. I used regular fuel. I eventually sold it off but what i can suggest is using 100% high octane as i think the problem is related to inefficient combustion as supplemented by the knocking. so try it out for a few fillups and if that doesnt work, best live with it i ran mine for 60000 kms with the noise so i dont think its a big deal.

Remedy for high consumption and vibrating engine

I am in Quetta and the quality of petrol is really low here, I've had this low mileage plus little long self problem twice. Once i serviced everything (you can find details in DIY section) and found an injector chocked (rectified it). This time i only used a cleaning agent easily available off the shelf, i was recommended to use MAG and WHIZ which i couldn't find and used ABRO (made in USA) instead.

Both the times i revived my fuel average, quick starting and stable idle. I'm getting 15+ in local running w/o AC but i do keep my foot a little heavy on accelerator pedal

    Knocking Issue

this is the second time i am having a vitz new shape. Knockin is inharent in this model, using 25% high octane has always been helpful. In case you don't get high octane try running on an RPM where the knocking doesn't occur.

    CAT Removal

I don't think that CAt gets chocked so early, like under 100,000 km. In previous car i did replace it (details are available on PW, go through my profile and you'll find the thread explaining procedure). It is better to rule out other problems first, which may have caused knocking or vibrational effects. Even a visit to toyota motors will be more appropriate then fiddling with CAT on just a hunch.

The vibration on idle and a bad fuel average is due to a dirty MAP sensor or a clogged fuel filter. Get the MAP sensor cleaned then if that doesn't work get the fuel filter changed.

It could be a dirty MAP sensor, getting that checked first would be a wise thing to do. Then if thats not the problem it could either be a clogged up fuel filter or the fuel pump fuse/relay or just a faulty fuel pump.

Most of us already know how the injectors get clogged. Its nothing but the fuel that we use, causes clogging. Every time we turn off our car's engine, last drop of petrol dries on the nozzle of the injector and leaves behind deposits. These deposits become firm with the heat of the chamber. The more we drive our car, more deposits accumulate. Gradually it starts to restrict the flow of petrol from the tiny hole on the nozzle and the injector starts to lose its efficiency. This causes the engine to lean misfire and hesitate on different rpm, power and pickup is lost, the car becomes uneconomical on petrol, unburnt fuel can be noticed in the emission and worst of all the wear of engine becomes faster. Only 8% to 10 % clogging in the nozzle can cause all this.
Proper cleaning can restore their like-new performance. There is no need to replace fuel injectors unless they are actually gone bad. Injectors are designed in such a way that they are not very convenient to clean. They are sealed units and cannot be opened for cleaning. Ultrasonic cleaning is internationally accepted MOST effective process for cleaning fuel injectors. It is cheap and comprehensive solution for the problem.
