If she is manual you need to check for Clutch, thurst bearing, pressure plate & clutch plate.

If she is Auto transmission, when did u topped up the transmission fluid.

check for the auto-transmission oil, transmission filter & get it flushed & oil change if it is never done since she is in Pakistan.

This can be done at a workshop knowing transmission jobs not road side Tillon Million bhai wooden box workshops under plaza Tree.

to change transmission oil you need not to open or disassemble anything, visit some Toyota shop if you have any doubt or search you tube / google video for changing auto tranmission oil -

and also when u open the nut/bolt of the transmission oil chamber, start the car and give some accelerator so that the oil in the chamber will be flushed totally and switch of the car and then put the recommend ATF Toyota Motor Oil donot use any zic, repson or liquid moly.

    Never do that.

And to the poster: If you're going for a trans oil change, change the ATF filter as well. Don't 'clean' the old filter, change it. once you drain the transmission oil.. remove the injector grips, all of them, crank the car for two to five seconds, oil in the torque converter will also come to the oil pan, drain again and open the oil pan. CHange the atf filter, clean the oil pan nicely with patience.. put everything back, start pouring in ATF - check manufacturer recommended amount.. if it is 4L put in something around 3L.. start the car for about 30 seconds, check level and if needed top it and start the car again to check level.

You have to open the oil pan to change the atf filter, its not a mobile that once opened loses its resale value.

This is a normal maintenace item. Ensures the longevity of the the transmission.

I can't say if the jerking while shift will stop or not. It might if your atf is in a really bad condition right and changing it might help.. Otherwise you might have an electrical issue or maybe a bad transmission now. An expert transmission mechanic will tell you but they don't exist in pk.

Check with a good electrician before hand.

    Best of luck.

the only way of draining the convertor is after filling with new ATF - remove the cooler lines and put a funnel in the filler port, start engine and pour ATF at the same speed its being pumped out, it will take another 2 or 3 litres. As soon as you see bright new fluid exiting the cooler pipe, shut down the engine and install the cooler pipes to the radiator.

If you try the engine start and pump till tranny is dry technique - it will make sure that your transmission oil pump is dead beyond repair. If you try the injector disconnect and crank technique it will be very slow and will only remove about a cup of fluid at most becuase the oil in the convertor needs to pushed out with new oil and if your oil pump cannot suck on anything you cannot push anything.

btw rough shifting occurs when your oil screen gets partially choked or the shift solenoids start to stick - in the latter case - renewing of the solenoids on the valve body is the only cure.

Yeah, the injector technique is not exactly recommended but you see, people here even hesitate to get the oil pan removed :p however if I have to do the cranking for some reason, I just crank it for 5 seconds and be done with it, but my oil changes are scheduled unlike the poster :p

And no no, not crank till tranny is dry... Its more like just 5 seconds to get some of the last bits out. That's it.

And if you try to tell most people about the cooler line filling thing, for some very odd reason it doesn't make sense to them and some also say that we didn't want to waste that much of brand new fluid, even when you tell them beforehand to bring extra 4L..

Gentlemen please never ever buy parts/oils etc from toyota showrooms, they are ripping ppl apart. I had a bad experience today with them. They quoted rs 4850 for cvt tc oil for my vitz tranny, and wanted to apply silicon seal stating i wont find the seal anywhere in pakistan, plus rs 200 labour charges. Thanks god i didnt fall prey to their nefarious designs, i got the genuine cvt tc oil from mehran autos saddar rwp for rs 3850 and seal from a nearby shop for rs 400, plus rs 500 labour charges for full svc of my tranny...mehran autos is the best as far as availibility, genuineness and price of spare parts is concerned.
