Default My new ride Vitz 2006, fresh import

    Asalam-o-Alikum warahmatullah,

I was planning to upgrate my Cultus Vxli 2008 for last three months. There was a big tie between Toyota vitz and Suzuki Swift. Both rides are awesome, but I had to pick one. So, in the end I picked Toyota Vitz. The main reason to pick it was the lack of auto transmission in Suzuki Swift.

Second tie was in between 1.3L and 1.0L versions. Though 1.0 is the best if one wants to save fuel and taxes but I required power too. So I opted for 1.3 version.

I will use this thread to keep you all updated about the ride inshAllah.

I am loving mine also purchased in late january. The dvd installation you got there is great ! I was getting a similar one(same size) for half the price + two additional speakers so i opted for a different one.
Good going for the 1300cc one, in my opinion, it is a good engine for this car and the 1000cc just seems to lack power. Also as Murtaza already stated its a CVT trans bro.
The next thing you should look for is alloy rims and new set of tires. I got a significant improve on the mileage by changing the rims, tires and balancing the wheels !
If you dont mind me asking .. Whats the total mileage ?
to what extent can wide tyres affect the fuel efficiency and pick of the car(if other things remain constant). I was having 165/70/R14 yokohama but recently i got 185/70/R14 dunlop but now i feel my ride has got a little heavy when it comes to pick up. Secondly my mileage has dropped from 17km/L to 15.6km/L. Is this really the impact of the bigger tyres.

AoA bro. The width increases ground contact, weight and air plus ground friction. It results in slight degradation of fuel efficiency.
hmmmmm. Well, moving from 165 to 185s should not have such enormous affect as it has happened in your case. Normally smaller engines respond more negatively to larger tires. One the other hand bigger and powerful engines do not mind much. A part of it can be tire's impact but there is a good chance that something else is causing this deterioration of mileage. Smaller engines with wider tires also require more heavy foot driving which negatively affects mileage.

Ja zak Allah for your wishes. Brother this RIM is available in RWP/ISB region in between 22,000 Rs to 26,000 Rs. Best price would be to get it under 24,000 Rs. I got them from I-8 Markaz, Islamabad.

brother your new tire size is 185/70/R14 and this is a 15 inch RIM. So they are of no use for you until you again go for another tire change

    Best of luck.

165mm wide tires for a 14 inch rim were not available in the market before, now they are in the brand nankang. If I had a Vitz i.e. a car kept for fuel economy, then I would stick to this size instead of destroying the mileage.

As far as sound is concerned, there is change of 7 to 10% only, if you are a light footed driver you will not feel the change and if you press the foot hard then you can feel the sound of zoooooo only when you press the foot hard. But if the windows are closed then the sound is very very low...... its near to nothing.
And the performance............ don't ask its just great, i can feel the acceleration has become much much better and engine is not heavy anymore, my CAT was chocked around 50% so i can feel the difference a lot.

Mortal bhai tell me about the Mileage after removing the second CAT? what difference did you feel?

thanks Shoaib bhai. I'll look for another set of RIMS. Most importantly i will look for RIMS lighter than my stock wheels to offset the impact of heavy tyres. Any idea how much does each stock rim of 14" weigh?

    Dear Bro,
    AOA,
Hope you are fine and enjoying good health.
Thank You for asking dear, As far as the mileage is concerned... there was no noticeable difference.... The ride becomes lighter but no effect on the mileage.

    Faizan

    Hey congrats Mortal,

How is the Prius? There were so many scares regarding battery issues and non-availability besides other complex problems that our mechanics cannot fix that made me wonder if i should ever go for this car even though I just love it.

Great!!! Do you need regular maintenance that you have to take it to Toyota? I'm surprised that they provide support for JDMs lol

No brother I have no idea. But make sure you get some good alloy 14 inch RIMs as the stock ones are really really really very good in terms of mileage

Well bro I am very naive in trouble shooting technical issues. Please try posting in vitz fan club thread. I hope experts will help you. Knocking is very common in 1.0 vitz and it is better to use high octane. I have no idea about history of your ride. I hope you have got ur ride's throttle body, filter etc cleaned and plugs are up to the mark.

    Best of luck,

Salam Shoaib bhai.. i have vitz 2010 model and have imported through my uncle i have done with oil change, and original CVT with cleaning of throttle body as well.... i wanna ask a few things:

1- My car is giving mileage of 9-10 Km per litre in city. how to increase mileage as u have quoted mileage of 15-16 in city with AC on.
2- When i start my car, in start it used to show "cool" signal in green. it stayed for a while and then vanished. but since the last day when i start my car the red signal gets n instead of green cool signal but vanishes at the very next moment. is it anything alarming.???
3- Also please guide regarding any maintenance issues..
4- i get my car refueled from Total petrol pump with hi-super.
5- the above quoted mileage is when i use a very soft foot on accelerator. otherwise it gives mileage of 9 in city with AC.

please guide and help me maintain my car.. also if possible can i get ur contact no. to discuss other issues regarding navigation activation as it came with Toyota Genuine Multi Av Station..

    Walikum asalam warahmatullah,

Welcome to the club brother I hope you are enjoying your ride. You havnt told which vitz you have, 1.0, 1.3 or more? 9-10 Km is a bad average no doubt but is common in vitz. It also depends on traffic signals, queues and stays while A/C is working. You said you drive with soft pedal. Its strange as driving soft pedal should take it to 12 at least. I hope you have got you have got your filter, plugs and throttle body thoroughly cleaned and checked. Which oil have u pored in and its number? I have seen many vitz lurking around 9-10 mileage and nothing help them to obtain better mileage. Its really sad and pathetic.

My vitz is 1.3 and with genuine tires easily crosses 15 with A/C. I have changed my tires and have got some real big ones. Still it is giving 13+. Its really very strange that sometimes it becomes hard to tell why a car is giving good mileage and the other of same specs does not.

The cold engine light should glow in start. If hot engine light glows there might be some problem inside the system. You should try a computer reset for your ECU. This might solve the problem.

As far as the maintainance is concerned, my experience with my ride is very good. I simply go to technicians after 5000 Kms for a complete checkup that includes brake service, alignment, balancing, throttle body clean, oil change and service. My ride is allhumdulilah working fine.

    My best wishes bro.
    regards,
