Default Vitz 1.3 vs 1.0 fuel economy?

i was looking into getting a toyota vitz for personal use,, there are two models available in pak ,, the 1300cc and the more common 1000cc ,,,

    my question>

which one has the better mileage ( ofc the 1.0 should be the better one but i heard from someone the 1300 has better EFi )

    your opinions?

I'm amazed at how people can write things and make claims as if they are experts ! I've had a 05 vitz since June and its average has been between 11-13 depending on what kind of roads I drove on, how frequently I got stuck in traffic jams etc. I've never taken it for a long drive so cant say anything about its mileage on long route.

CNG is not recommended for a 1000 cc vitz but I've heard 1300 cc is good with it.

    getting 13-15 km/ltr with 1300cc, 2006 FWD model.
was getting 8-10 km/ltr due to unbalanced tires and poor tuning.
Also got 10-13 km/ltr with toyota fielder 1500cc!
    In city.

Previously have owned 1000cc 2001 model vitz with CNG.
CNG worked fine without any issues. 55 cylinder, filled gave somewhere around 130-150kms, the petrol average was 10-13km/ltr. (with OD)
For me mileage is better in the 1300cc.

Guyz to clear the confusion... plz note down that CNG IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR BOTH 1.0L and 1.3L FWD VITZ.....The reason is that both of them have a CVT-i transmission which can not at all go along with CNG.... still if someone of u ppl do want to install CNG then u are inviting a big big ''phakki''

As far as the milage is concerned i have studied alot many threads about 1.0L Vitz + Belta 06/07/08 milage and now i do have a personal experience of it aswell....

Vitz 1.0L (1KR-FE engine block) Milage
15-16 km/l in city without AC
18-19 km/l on highway without AC

AC can bring down avge 2 km/l so it will be 13-14 for city and 16-17 for highway...
so guyz if u are getting below than this than do get ur ride checked/tuned...

    AVOID.... AVOID....AVOID>>>>> PSO petrol

Go for SHELL or the best would be CALTEX...

Add 5-10 ltrs of Hi-octane in full tank....

Get CVT fluid changed of a fresh import...

Engine tunning + throttle body cleaning + Plugs cleaning ( note vitz have iridium tip spark plugs having life of 80K kms )

    regards,

Also maintain recommended tire inflation pressure of 30 psi front, 32 psi rear (as recommended by Toyota). Just ensuring this pressure all the time will increase fuel avg by 1-2 kmpl, tried and tested.

Previously I had Vitz 2004 with CNG, the best it gave me was 175Kms on highway without AC and the worst it gave me was 95 Kms in city without AC in one full cylinder of 8KG

Now I have vitz 2006 1.0 ltr Petrol and the best it gave me on Lahore to Multan road was 20Km/l in which from Lahore to sahiwal it was on AC. the worst it gave me was 10 Km/L in city with AC

My observation of three years experience with vitz is that following things effect the fuel average:

1- RIM Size (bigger the tire size means lesser the average, you can get best average on only the size for which the car has been designed which is 14")
2- Tyre aspect ratio (don't use too broad/wide tires, though they increase road grip but badly effect on fuel economy)
3- Driving style (aggressive = lesser AVG, smooth and calm = good AVG)
4- Petrol Type (Don't use PSO Petrol, and try to get your tank full at once from a good/running pump)
5- proper maintenance (change the oil filter, oil, air filter after 2500 to 3000 Kms Max and use only recommended oil, don't change the brand or type of oil every time, just select a good oil and try to carry on with it. I use ZIC which is good for new engines but not good for engines with mileage above 100K)
6- And finally it also count that how much extra weight you put on your car...more persons mean more power required which mean more fuel consumption in lesser distance

    Cheers

Hi all, I have 2002 vitz. its a nice car, but giving me very poor average on petrol could u believe, just 7-8 km per liter.
I got it tuned, throttle body service, changed plugs, changes air and fuel filter, using Havoline oil.

But no remedy. Just fed up with this. Tuned it from Enercon. Now planning to go the Nazir Auto in G8.

    Can anyone help me.

i was also planning to buy toyota vitz and when i saw this conversation i found majority said that vits gives great economy so few days back i bought an unregistered toyota vitz 2008 1000cc. I can swear it is not giving me more than 8.9km/l economy. Firstly i thought it was because i kept the air conditioner on all the time but then i tried without the ac and still the same result and i dont drive aggressively at all, seriously i just cruise at 40km\h max in the city with no sudden accelerations. I had the air filter checked it was clean and did not need replacement, i changed the oil, got the car tuned up but no change. I also own a Honda City 2011 mannual i-vtec and that 1300cc car with much more power than the vitz gives me averagely 15-16km\l in city and 23km\l long. I am planning to visit toyota showroom in Islamabad tomorrow and if i get any improvement i will post but till today my vitz is giving less than 9km\l although, theoretically with only 1000cc and continuous variable transmission(CVT) this car is supposed to give more than 15km\l.

Yes the first dot drops after 50km's in my car and the rest after almost 35-40 km's. I always have my tank completely filled, i then see how much petrol had been consumed in the last re-fill and total kilometers the car did as i re-set the meter every time i re-fuel, that gives me the most precise average.

Interesting claims there mostly based on rumors and baseless opinions which can only add to the confusion.
    1. About the question whether a 1 litre or a 1.3 would give better avg, for this car a 1 litre engine is overworked and you would need to rev it more for the same level of output hence more fuel
    2. About avoiding PSO, its not the brand which can have such a profound impact on economy rather its the station you fill the car from. There can be a PSO pump giving good quality fuel and there can be a Shell pump giving substandard fuel with incorrect measurements. The best bet is to find the company operated pump in your city (the board shows if its company operated)
    3. Since all of these imported cars have actual mileage of 80K plus (ignore the one on the meter), how many of you have replaced all fluids / belts and have done the scheduled maintenance as recommended e.g. brake service, plugs (stock) etc etc
    4. Lets check what actual steps have you people taken for a better avg, mention the plug code and gap you have in the car right now, plus when was the last time you changed the CVT oil ?

The service interval for CVT oil change in this car is 40K for normal driving and 25K for harsh driving conditions, if you have a car that is driven way above one lac km and you are still dragging it on the old oil expecting the poor transmission and the under powered engine which I am pretty sure is also running on low quality oil and filters with incorrect plugs n gaps, then stop waiting for miracles and get the actual work done.

Also, do mention the tire size and if your ride is on stock rims or aftermarket alloys (which mostly are much heavier thanks to the cheap Chinese stuff )
