Default Toyota Vitz 2007 - vibration and whistling sound

    Hi,

Since last two days when I start the Vitz in the mornings the car sort of vibrates/shudders for few seconds then is back to normal. This never happened before. It's like as if the engine shudders for a few secs then is back to normal. I cleaned the throttle body, spark plugs and replaced the air filter last month. What could be the problem?

Also when I start to drive the car after its parked overnight or after work in the evenings I can hear a whistling sound which is similar to a bird chirping on the right side area. This does not happen everytime but on and off on several occasions and only for awhile but then disappears as I continue to drive the car. I can't figure out where this sound seems to come from??

Would appreciate any suggestions help please.

    Thanks

The engine belt (or whatever it is called?) needs to be adjusted. And pully needs to lubricated

I had similar issue with vitz, and it is solved after adjustments of the belt. Throttle has nothing to do when the car is stationary. Also in winters it may take a long ignition to start the engine. Also same is for AtF.

I presume you face the issue when car is in parking and continue for 30 - 40 secondss in the morning?

You can check my thread too regarding morning start of vitz.

However it is normal, as I did complete search, just make sure the engine belt is adjusted/tighten so you won't hear the whistling sound for the first start.

The whistling sound makes me suspect a leakage in the air intake or matbe a loose vacuum pipe. Try checking the brake booster vacuum pipe.

    Hi,

My Vitz 2004 (only petrol) when accelerated from stop position, it produces a strange whistling sound which increases a bit further when the gear changes for the first time and then sound remains a bit high until speed of 40 and then the sound almost goes as speed increases further. At higher speeds you can't really observe this sound. The sound only comes when you press accelerator and if you lift your foot from accelerator while driving then even on lower speed the sound immediately goes. There is no such sound when car is in N or P gear. I feel this sound almost at front of driver side in engine area. I want to ask:

1- What could cause this sound (it has been driven ~10K after transmission oil changed with ZIC ATF, the engine oil and air filters are just changed last week)
2- Is it related to engine? transmission or exhaust system?

I would like to add that I started to hear this sound after I replaced the brake servo as the older was causing the sudden hard braking. Is the new brake servo may have any connection with the sound?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I have vitz 2007 model, same whistling sound came from car unless silencer repair guy change a filter and oiled the bolt. Now its absolutely quite. But vibration in my car still exists. Rpm down when in gear at the signal. Car started shaking badly. I have changed the oem iridium spark plugs recently. Last month I have changed oem air filter, transmission oil, oil filter, new battery, alternator, cat filter removed, installed the voltage stabilizer, harmonic feul injection cleaning, throttle body cleaning, computer recalibration, and mount changed with kabli one but vibration is still there. . Vitz having a 1kr engine. Any advise willbe highly appreciated. And yes I use shell hi octane and super 50%. Using shell blue pack 20w 30 oil.

Brother it has something to do with air intake and exhaust of the car maybe the car is not creating enough Vaccum.

Check the airbox / air intake and silencer very closely for any air leak.

    Also check the brake booster.

The silence guy must have removed the CAT converter.

Have u connect the ECU to the OBD-II scanner for nay fault codes?

Have u changed the engine mounts or gearbox mounts ?

There was no need to change the iridium plugs they last for 50000 km easily.

First determine whether the vibration is from engine or from gearbox I do not think that its something with the eingine because 1KR FE is one of the best engines in the world.

Bother, Yes the Silencer guy removed the CAT converter. And technician from Toyota motor connect ECU with scanner several times but no code and fault detected. Yes i have change the Engine mount but not the gear mount. I will definitely check the air intake/ airbox and silencer for any leak. Brake booster are fine because when i leave the brakes vibration still exist but as per your suggestion/advise i will do check it from mechanic. Thank you very much.

Brother I have checked the exhaust system and brake booster. Both are fine absolutely. Airintake system and all hoses I will check soon. I placed the double tape in throttle paddal and vibration is bearable but removing it the car starts shaking vigorously. I couldn't find the cause. Hope someone tell me the exact problem and solution. Hope to hear from you soon.

Salaam to all. At last my problem solved. I have go through the manual of 1kr fe engine. Look at all the location of the sensors. Disconnect the negative terminal of battery. Open throttle body, map sensor, oxygen sensor bank1 and 2, open cam shaft sensor. Open fuel pump with filter after opening the rear seat. Bought 5 bottle of nasa carb cleaner and clean everything. Then let it dry for 30 minutes. Install all parts and sensors back to thier place and yes I sprayed also each and every connector. It took me 3 hours. Connect the terminals and start the car. No vibration at all. Car is running very smooth now. But I dont know what was the cause. Thanks all of you for your valuable suggestions and time. Really appreciate.

@rehan Map sensor is behind the throttle body off course if you have 1krfe engine. you can only see after removing the throttle body. After removing the two bolts of Map sensor just pull the sensor upward direction.
