Default Urgent help! Vitz 2005 1KR transmission type.

A friend recently purchased a 2005 Vitz with 1KR engine. We want to know whether it is equipped with CVT or AT. Need the answer urgently as transmission oil change is due. Please also recommend optimum transmission oil brand etc. Thanks.

I don't think this is quite true.

City iDsi auto - Straight shifter - CVT

Corolla Altis - Ladder type shifter - regular auto tranny

Okay now the problem has become a bit complicated. We went to Honda City Sales; anticipating since they have CVT oil available off the shelf, they will change it. They said we will change it AT YOUR RISK. When asked what's the risk involved, they said transmission might die altogether. Then we went to Toyota Garden. The crew there said they have been forbidden from changing CVT oil of VITZ after some kind of incident. They checked the level, which was okay, but the quality of oil had deteriorated, gave a bad smell and all. One technician said oil change is way past over due and should be carried out immediately. However, he said you bring the oil and we will change it AT YOUR RISK. WTF?

The 1KR-FE and the 2SZ-FE of the 2005+ Toyota Vitz is paired to the K-410 Super CVT-i gearbox.

DO NOT use any gear oil/fluid except, Toyota Genuine CVT fluid TC. And please, make sure you replace the fluid chamber gasket and the drain tube o-ring gasket with new and OEM ones.

Use exactly the method in the link below, to completely flush and replace the CVT fluid and to replace both the gaskets.
