    Question Power loss Vitz 2002

Car is Toyota Vitz 2002 reg 2008 engine is 1SZFE, Transmission is U440E Auto, running on CNG 7500KM with reasonable engine maintenance 6 weeks earlier car lost power was taking too much of throttle to move and gain momentum, transmission fluid & filter was changed car worked well with little hum sound at over 80kph below 80 it was silent. six weeks passed perfect.

This week Monday early evening car lost power again stalled with engine running declined to move forward / reverse from the parking slot at hyperstar basement got it towed.

The mechanic diagnosed dead transmission, replaced with fresh one from yard, replaced the filter & fluid and installed with the torque converter it came with. Car was back to normal, Tuesday 5 PM delivered with B trip meter reading reset to zero. Thursday night car died in middle of road at the traffic light failed to move even after push, been towed to workshop. trip meter reading 85 kms.

18000 is transmission price, from Yard need help & input. weather it is a transmission fault or is there something to with ECU mapping

If you disconnect every wire from the trans - it should default to O/D, meaning it would be stuck in 4th gear if you selected D, no shifts at all. If you have zero drive in D or any position of the selector then check that the oil pump is actually working, remove a line from the radiator cooler and see if oil is actually coming out.

If the pump is working and you are missing drive, filter is clean, fluid is good and GENUINE - not mitti ka tail mix with engine oil, then seems that the 1st brake piston is bad in the trans - overhaul required.

btw yard transmissions are not fresh, they can range from OK to garbage.

p.s. Can you hear any clanging sounds? Do a check when you remove the torque convertor, get a spare input shaft from the wrecker or someplace, and stick it in the convertor nose and verify that the splines are not broken off - seen that happen in a mitsubishi galant transmission.

I know of a case on Vitz owners forum and a friend, Both cars had issues (Car going no where in R mode) But these issues were resolved by simply changing the ATF and the filter, Your problem seems pretty teira
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.
