Exclamation Strange sounds in Vitz 1.3L, 2 SZ-FE engine

    Asalam-o-Alikum warahmatullah....

Brothers I am observing a strange sound in my vitz.

I went to Toyota people for daily checkup and oil change.

    1) They cleaned the throttle.
    2) They changed the Plugs.
    3) They changed the Air filter.
    4) They tightened the engine belt.
    5) They cleaned the throttle.
    5) They changed the engine oil. (Liquimoly - I changed the oil number from 10-40W sythetic to 15-40w mineral on recommendation of Liquimoly tech guy. Though I do not think it is good idea.)

After the work as told above two changes are clearly observed.
    1) The char char char char sound around the belt area. Probably it is belt. or it is the bearing.
    2) When I accelerate car sounds like a racing car. Like gaaaaaaoooooon.... check the videos, u'll get that better.

I went to toyota people. They told me that the bearings are wearing out. It was something strange for me as I heard no such sound before the above mentioned work was done. They said that the bearings were not giving that sound before because the belt was loose. Now they have tighten the belt. Due to this tightening the bearing is getting the load. The toyota guy greeced the belt and the sound became a bit less. He said see! When I greeced it; the belt became soft and so does the load on the bearing. The less load made the sound fade away a bit.

I went to another mechanic in 1-9 industrial area. He carefully checked the bearings and said this is not a bearing sound. He after some time told me that he is unable to figure out from where the sound is coming. He asked me to visit him after few days so that the greece may go away and the noise come back to it's original form.

I have uploaded the videos. Please check them and give your ideas.

JazakAllah and thanks in advance for the help

cORRECT. Although i dont think so greasing it was the right thing to do, however, if applying grease has decreased the sound it means sound was coming from the same area. Better idea was to remove the belt and wipe the dirt and gunk off the pulley with a cloth. Check the belt for any visible signs of decay, if found replace with new one. Proper tightening is also important.
    2) When I accelerate car sounds like a racing car. Like gaaaaaaoooooon
for the bass-echo...did you tighten the air-filter casing properly? Look at it from sideways, if you could see the white filter, even slightly, it means the casing is not properly fitted back. Which can cause the sound.
    ....
rest... wait for Xulfiqar bhai for better guidance.

JazakAllah for the answer bro. Belt seems fine. It is tight too. There are no signs of decay.

There are two chances. Either the alternator bearings are making sound or the water pump is dying.

The plastic box which contains filter seems to be closed well. But I will see it again.

    thanks for the help bro.

Too tight a belt makes the bearings whine as well. The "ghaoon" sound seems like an air leak in the intake system. Check all vacuum pipes as well.

the best way to check if it is even coming from the engine is that drive the car, gain some speed, put the car in neutral and switch the car off. if its from engine, it would stop coming. if its from wheel bearings, it would still be coming

Yes bro. I have observed one important thing. The joint in intake plastic module on the top of engine is loose. You can see that in the picture. It was not so loose before. Has this anything to do with the "ghaooon" sound ?

Now the question is how to tight it up? Should I get a new intake plastic box? Some kabli one? or to do some desi tricks with it?

if the edges arnt broken or cracked...it can be easily fitted in place leaving no room for play between the two assemblies.
However, if you find its edges broken/cracked then you got no other choice but to replace with a new one.
(In some cars there is an additional notch at the lower end of the air intake tunnel, to keep the assembly firmly in place.)

The problem has been solved. The water pump was making the major part of that noise. It has been changed I would urge the admins to close the thread...
