    Default Toyota Vitz Owners/Fan Club

    The purpose of this post is to gauge the interest in forming a Toyota Vitz Owners Club in different cities of Pakistan. As we all know that Vitz has become quite popular in the last year or so. More and more people are buying it or are interested to know more about it. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. There would be regular meets and get together as well as cruises. The criteria to join the club would be to own a Vitz and a desire to help and share information with fellow members. I myself am based in Karachi, so I can take the lead in taking off this project here. Other can do the similar thing in their respective cities. If there is enough interest, a formal charter / by-laws would be issued with club rules and regulation as well as its mission statement. The club would operate under the same rules & conditions as other international car clubs. To take this project off the ground, I believe 10 people in each city would be the minimum requirement. If anyone from Karachi is interested in being a part of this club, please email me at danyal1@hotmail.com. Pakwheelers from other cities can share their email addresses under this post if they are willing to take the lead for their respective cities. I hope to this see become a success someday and a model for other to follow. LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS!!!

    @saadiii

    Sorry to hear about that. I'm sure you can check out in the spare parts market there for a spare door, like we have shershah market here in Karachi.

    Please stand corrrected, according to OEM, there is no difference in fuel consumption of Vitz 99-2004 models, only 2005 has a different engine with better mileage.

    I am talking about the 1000 cc versions (Vitz and Platz) with 1SZ-FE engines, 1300,1500 and 1800 CC (Diesel) verisions are also available with different mileage ofcourse!!
    If your cars are not giving at least 12-13 Km/Litres in traffic, please o following

    1. Improve your driving style, better mileage is required, not drag racing

    2. Clean/chnge spark plugs and air filter (if dirty)

    3. Get the throttle body of the engine cleaned (relible mechanic)

    4. Check fuel filter and Catalytic converter

    Hope this helps!
    Deloy

    Mod edit: Vitz does not come in 1.8D, it comes with a 1.4 D4D

    I got all lubes changed on my 99 Vitz changed from Toyota Islamabad motors about 3 months ago. The car has done about 2600 km since then. I had some maintenance questions:

    1. How long should I wait before changing:
    _ Engine oil
    _ Power steering oil
    _ Transmission oil
    _ Brake oil

    2. I notice the steering has become a little stiffer as compared to before. Does it have to do with power steering oil change?

    3. When I park the car, I put the gear into 'P' and apply hand-brake. But I notice repeated use of the hand-brake is making it loose over time like I mean previously if I would pull it till I heard 2 clicks, now it takes about 3-4 clicks to apply a good brake.

    4. During the rains I drove the car in rain and mud. Although later I cleaned the outer of the car myself but I was worried what if there is some mud gone over the brake rotors/pads. Should clean/lubricate them too periodically?

    5. Some time back a pump service person forgot to put back my fuel cap. I got to know about it later (20 days after) that is was missing. I went back and they gave me another cap which fitted satisfactorily. Now I'm worried, that during that period what if some dust went inside the fuel tank and what adverse affects can that have on the engine. What should I do about this?

    6. I feel my car is under-powered. The engine starts to get noisy fairly quickly. Also climbing a hill also causes a lot of revs on the engine. Is this normal or could there be something wrong with it?
    This is as much of a test for me as it's for them

    Please comment on this information....

    An automotive oxygen sensor, also known as an O2 sensor, lambda probe, lambda sensor, lambda sond or EGO (exhaust gas oxygen) sensor, is a small sensor inserted into the exhaust system of a petrol engine to measure the concentration of oxygen remaining in the exhaust gas to allow an electronic control unit (ECU) to control the efficiency of the combustion process in the engine. In most modern automobiles, these sensors are attached to the engine's exhaust manifold to determine whether the mixture of air and gasoline going into the engine is rich (too much fuel) or lean (too little fuel).

    This information is sent to the engine management ECU computer, which adjusts the mixture to give the engine the best possible fuel economy and lowest possible exhaust emissions. Failure of these sensors, either through normal aging, the use of leaded fuels, or due to fuel contamination with eg. silicones or silicates, can lead to damage of an automobile's catalytic converter and expensive repairs.

    @gyzer

    Good interesting info. Maybe thats why its better to remove the Catalytic converter as many advise here due to leaded fuel in Pakistan.
