    Default Toyota Vitz Owners/Fan Club

    The purpose of this post is to gauge the interest in forming a Toyota Vitz Owners Club in different cities of Pakistan. As we all know that Vitz has become quite popular in the last year or so. More and more people are buying it or are interested to know more about it. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. There would be regular meets and get together as well as cruises. The criteria to join the club would be to own a Vitz and a desire to help and share information with fellow members. I myself am based in Karachi, so I can take the lead in taking off this project here. Other can do the similar thing in their respective cities. If there is enough interest, a formal charter / by-laws would be issued with club rules and regulation as well as its mission statement. The club would operate under the same rules & conditions as other international car clubs. To take this project off the ground, I believe 10 people in each city would be the minimum requirement. If anyone from Karachi is interested in being a part of this club, please email me at danyal1@hotmail.com. Pakwheelers from other cities can share their email addresses under this post if they are willing to take the lead for their respective cities. I hope to this see become a success someday and a model for other to follow. LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS!!!

    main reason they don't have the original auction sheet (or a copy) is that they have most likely either tampered with the car since they bought it or that they have bought a sh*tty car and have rebuilt it here using 2nd hand parts (which is common as well).

    honestly you don't need the sheets if you trust the dealer but still it's niche to have it. i didn't see the sheet of my vitz when i bought it from alta but at the end of the day if it was a bad car i woudl have shoved it up his @ss,.. LOL!

    the main reason i always suggest alta is that he is trustworthy, honest and straightforward, i have so far put my faith in him for both my vitz and my surf, (which me and my wife use daily).

    @bluntknife
    anytime buddy, that's why we are here.

    @qwertypoiu
    this shape was launched in 2005. you can find them in PK starting at around 6.5 lacks for a very bad condition or "tampered" car. i think a good 05 will set you back around the 7lack mark, but you'd be better off asking alta (03332135567).

    irfibaig: There is no way to determine the engine temperature in the Vitz as it does not have a temperature gauge. There is a warning indicator (red thermometer) on the front instrumental panel, but when it comes on its too late as the engine has already over-heated!! One can only go around this problem by checking the engine coolant level carefully at least once a week. Also, idling with the air conditioner ON for a long period is not a good idea.

    The engine temperature warning light (alongwith the battery warning light and oil pressure lights) is extremely important in any car. Vitz designers surely made a mistake in omitting this important gauge. I am trying to retrofit an after-market gauge, but the problem is that there is hardly any space on the dashboard. If I am successful, I will post my mod here.

    zainrock5: The Vitz (1999-2004) engine: 1SZ-FE, 997cc, does about 13 km/litre with AC on 100% of the time, in stop & go city driving. Over longer drives at an average of 60 kph, it can reach 17km/litre with AC. Without AC it does about 2km/litre better. When I got my 2004 Vitz, I was getting just 10 km/litre, but once I changed the spark plugs and the air filter, the mileage improved quite a bit. The Vitz (1999-2004) has a 40-litre fuel tank capacity. (Note: Some people mistake it for 45 litres and get wrong mileage figures). On the Vitz digital fuel gauge there are eight bars, so each bar corresponds to about 5 litres, which should help in fuel monitoring.

    Spark plugs should be changed every 15,000km as per the workshop recommendation, but I would say 10,000 km is better. The Vitz 1SZ-FE engine uses 'NGK' BKR5EYA as factory fit, but 'DENSO' K16R-U are also compatible. Remember, spark plugs are one of the most important, but least remembered, components of the engine. Good plugs can help fuel economy as well as power output of the engine.

    irfibaig: I would recommend Toyota Walton (on Walton road) for servicing or spark plug changing. Denso K16R-U plugs cost 4xRs150=Rs600, plus Rs400 labour. Its a bit steep, but they know their job well and, it is worth it.

    Who takes 400 rs to just change the spark plugs. I got them changed yesterday and just paid 100 rs to change it. 400 rs is too much. In 400rs u can get ur vitz tunned and get the spark plugs changed too.

    Here is some info on tyre ratings for Vitz (1999-2004). The recommended tyres as per the User Manual (page 377) are:

    150/80R 13" (Tyre pressure 31 psi)
    175/65R 14" (Tyre pressure 31 psi)
    185/55R 15" (Tyre pressure 30 psi)

    Note: 195 is not recommended as, I suspect, it would hit the sides of the wheel well during turns. Some people on this forum have experienced such a problem.

    165 is somehow not mentioned in the User Manual, although I received my Vitz fitted with 165/70R 14".

    When the Low Fuel Warning light comes ON on the instrumental panel of Vitz (1999-2004), 6 litres remain in the fuel tank. Refer User Manual (page 217).
