    Default Toyota Vitz Owners/Fan Club

The purpose of this post is to gauge the interest in forming a Toyota Vitz Owners Club in different cities of Pakistan. As we all know that Vitz has become quite popular in the last year or so. More and more people are buying it or are interested to know more about it. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. There would be regular meets and get together as well as cruises. The criteria to join the club would be to own a Vitz and a desire to help and share information with fellow members. I myself am based in Karachi, so I can take the lead in taking off this project here. Other can do the similar thing in their respective cities. If there is enough interest, a formal charter / by-laws would be issued with club rules and regulation as well as its mission statement. The club would operate under the same rules & conditions as other international car clubs. To take this project off the ground, I believe 10 people in each city would be the minimum requirement. If anyone from Karachi is interested in being a part of this club, please email me at danyal1@hotmail.com. Pakwheelers from other cities can share their email addresses under this post if they are willing to take the lead for their respective cities. I hope to this see become a success someday and a model for other to follow. LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS!!!

    Ok... Get this guys...

If you would want to go for an engine swap, would you consider the 1zr fe?

It is the 1.6 liter altis engine... With 6 speed manual ...

I have been thinking and waiting so anyone having an idea about the mounts and work required for it should tell...

    Cheers...
Driving is not about going from point A to point B, it is the point...

Default Catalytic Converter.--- to remove or not ??

Our car (1000cc vitz 2007, CVT) has a little bit of pick issue. Its acceleration is slightly lower than it used to be. Took it to Toyota 3S (Toyota Rawal motors, Rawalpindi). They cleaned up the plugs and throttle body as well. But they inspected the CAT Converter and said that i must remove it as it is choked which is affecting acceleration and may affect its engine in future.
It is 42k on the odo. . It was purchased 10 months ago. Odo was 28k km at the time of purchase. Chances of tempered ODO cannot be ruled out since it was purchased from a muslim

Kindly suggest options regarding CATALYTIC CONVERTER. Should it be removed ?? if not, Can it be cleaned??

I would say get another opinion other than Toyota. I wouldnt suggest removing the CAT until you are certain its choked.

Almost all vitz imported to Pakistan come Japan where it is known as vitz. In most other markets its yaris, but those aren't imported. Plus duty on 1.0 is much less than 1.3.

Don't remove it unless you are absolutely sure it's choked. It's a very expensive part and there are some disadvantages of removing it as well

What's the model code of the engine? If its a recent Toyota engine, most likely it would fit bolt to bolt without any modifications. But you should have a good reason for the swap other than the low price

The engine is tuned for the stock exhaust configuration and removing the cat reduces the pressure at exhaust valves which can damage the pistons. (At least in theory)

BTW, I have driven 60,000 km after removing cat. Engine is fine so far, but I didn't notice any improvement in performance or economy. The low end torque might have decreased a bit though

Actually these engines need some amount of back pressure from the exhaust to work efficiently. Removing the cat will increase the velocity with which exhaust gases travel in tail pipe and decrease the overall efficiency of the engine.

Some cars have their O2 sensors after cat, in that case check engine light may come up and ecu might not get correct values from that sensor
