    Default Toyota Vitz Owners/Fan Club

    The purpose of this post is to gauge the interest in forming a Toyota Vitz Owners Club in different cities of Pakistan. As we all know that Vitz has become quite popular in the last year or so. More and more people are buying it or are interested to know more about it. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. There would be regular meets and get together as well as cruises. The criteria to join the club would be to own a Vitz and a desire to help and share information with fellow members. I myself am based in Karachi, so I can take the lead in taking off this project here. Other can do the similar thing in their respective cities. If there is enough interest, a formal charter / by-laws would be issued with club rules and regulation as well as its mission statement. The club would operate under the same rules & conditions as other international car clubs. To take this project off the ground, I believe 10 people in each city would be the minimum requirement. If anyone from Karachi is interested in being a part of this club, please email me at danyal1@hotmail.com. Pakwheelers from other cities can share their email addresses under this post if they are willing to take the lead for their respective cities. I hope to this see become a success someday and a model for other to follow. LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS!!!

    @Tyreone
    That light tells you that the engine is cold, you dont have to wait for that light to go off before you start driving, that is just to tell you that dont expect the heater to work well until that light is on.
    Dont worry about it.

    The temperature light is blue when is the engine is colder than the preferred operational temperature range (around 90C I believe) and is red when the engine is hotter than it should be. As a precaution, wait for about 20-30 seconds in mornings and don't push your pedal too hard while the cold light is on.

    Regarding atf, it's safe to assume that it has been changed. i would recommend you continue using the current one unless:
    (a) it is brownish or blackish (b) a drop of it is not fully absorbed by a tissue (indicating metal shavings or something similar) (c) after a drive, atf smells like a burn instead of a fruity medicine (d) there is something wrong with the drive (slow acceleration or vibration) and it's not fixed by anything else.

    Regarding lubricant, well.. i wish there were exact answers. maybe someone else can help more! i just took a gamble and settled for a semi-synthetic oil. Totally synthetic might have been drastically different from the oils previously used in the car! Since the shell oil is already inside, let it be for the time being. You can switch to zic A on next oil and filter change (around 4k kms from this change). Then after the first time you put in zic, the next oil change will be earlier than regular (around 3k kms) - as there will be older oil deposits still running around. Then onwards you can change every 5 or 6k kms i believe.

    @zeeshansyed

    Simply... when O/D is on, the car is allowed to go into 4th gear. When it is off, car only goes to 3rd gear max. (the light actually tells you that it's off - some ppl confuse this too).

    Thanks for the nice informative replies / advice. When I press the accelerator, it feels that the acceleration hesitates a bit at around 25 km/h and then is normal. Like u can feel a sort of vibration.

    I will check the ATF today and let u know how it is as you mentioned.

    Ok I checked the atf level, the way you mentioned. It seems to be on the darker brown side and spreads out, smell is sorta sweet but not sure as I have no experience of doing this (first time automatic transmission owner u know ) and the level at times seems a bit low. I checked when hot and engine running after driving around for about 20 mins.

    I dont know if its only my car but I can't seem to tell the level properly as the oil smudges right up when I pull out the dip stick. At one time it looked a bit on the lower side when hot.

    I think I'll just change it from Toyota to be on the safe side, coz I dont wanna trust the road side mechanics with changing the ATF.

    @All: Belated Eid Mubarik brethren Looks like I have missed out on very informative discussion. Been away for a while.

    @Missing in Action: It has to do with GPS navigation. Mine has a thing like this too and it says "GPS". No use in Pakistan, as you know.

    @Tyrone: Congrats mate excellent buy!
    There is one thing I would break up over and that is if she caught me with another woman. I wouldn't stand for that!

    Hi Guys,
    I got my Vitz 2 days before Eid. I am very happy iwth my purchase. There is no comparison in terms of quality and features with locally manufactured 1000 CC cars, and even higher cc cars built in pakistan.
    Now I have been frantically searching the net for a Vitz 2003-4 user manual (not service/technical), but all i found was that of the new shape vitz (2005 onwards). Can any Pakwheeler here help me out with the manual search? Do you guys have a pdf or a hard copy?
    Let me know. Thanks.

    the recommended tyre sizes (including that of spare wheel) are written on each car. Hint: door

    @tyrone_40

    i guess u should change it then. yes, only from toyota guys preferably those you know and trust (for obvious reasons). make sure they don't over fill it as mostly they don't know how to check the atf level! yes, you should check while the engine is running (but tranny is in P). Level should be between Hot and Cold depending on how much you've driven before checking the level.

    I got T-IV from a shop on main MA Jinnah Road... in Rimpa Plaza I believe.

    nice colour btw!

    @cache

    it's okay. what's in a name anyways?
