    Default Toyota Vitz Owners/Fan Club

    The purpose of this post is to gauge the interest in forming a Toyota Vitz Owners Club in different cities of Pakistan. As we all know that Vitz has become quite popular in the last year or so. More and more people are buying it or are interested to know more about it. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. There would be regular meets and get together as well as cruises. The criteria to join the club would be to own a Vitz and a desire to help and share information with fellow members. I myself am based in Karachi, so I can take the lead in taking off this project here. Other can do the similar thing in their respective cities. If there is enough interest, a formal charter / by-laws would be issued with club rules and regulation as well as its mission statement. The club would operate under the same rules & conditions as other international car clubs. To take this project off the ground, I believe 10 people in each city would be the minimum requirement. If anyone from Karachi is interested in being a part of this club, please email me at danyal1@hotmail.com. Pakwheelers from other cities can share their email addresses under this post if they are willing to take the lead for their respective cities. I hope to this see become a success someday and a model for other to follow. LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS!!!

    @mustafamalik and @others
    i got my throttly body serviced from honda pit stop (cavilliary ground lhr), they used a spray can to clean it. i read the instructions on the can and it said,

    "for efi engines, empty half of the can in the fuel tank, (half filled)"

    so, i think this should be the best diy for cleaning the throttle body. i don't remember the name/brand of that spray. btw, i got my throttle body cleaned the traditional way, (they took it out) and still i don't noticed any difference in performance/echonomy. i am still getting round 12-13 km/l within city (without AC).

    @The Communicator
    so what do you think will be the good price for such a car bcz yesterday i went to jail road and seen their 2004 models, although quite few comparing to number of 2005 models, they were giving around 600k to 630k but the car at my cousins showroom is better in condition and shape to them but i too belief he is giving at a high price.

    Could you or anybody give comments about 2005 model, is it okay to go with it, i've heard some issues with it like cng problem, parts availability and thier prices, mechanics availiability. Kindly help me in this regard bcz due to cng issue and other issues i am not buying 2005 model.

    @Rawfay
    you can fit 185/60R14 and they will be EXACTLY the same height as the original 155/80R13's and will NOT have any rubbing issues as long as your rims have an offset (ET)between 40-45. I have 195/50R15's which are 2mm smaller than original which is also acceptable.

    @mustafamalik
    this link might help but do note that this does not clean it thoroughly:

    @shirazkhan
    always welcome, as for the rest of the work, i think 1000 is reasonable as it will save you money in the long run in terms of fuel economy & driving pleasure. there is no need for "tuning" as these cars are controlled by an ECU and no local mechanic can do this work (so if he tries to charge you for "tuning" slap him)

    @all
    got my plugs and fuel filter cleaned today as my car started to give minor "jhatkas" while standing in "N" at a light. problem solved (was due to dirty plugs).

    Please note, the unit at the bottom half is the fuel filter, they can be cleaned if not too dirty, but if needed they can also be purchased in PK.

    do note that there is a cheap copy of the filter made out of brittle plastic which will most likely fail in your fuel tank and cause problems.

    the way to tell if the unit is OEM or not is:
    1. original packing with serial number
    2. by tapping on it with a coin the sound should not be hard, it should sound as if it has a bit of "flex"

    here's the complete assembly:

    fellow vitzers... i got a photocopy of yaris manual. This came with a yaris originally sold in the UK, so it's obviously in english!

    i guess this is the closest u can get to the english manual of vitz models 99 to 04. btw, (most of you will already know this) toyota is consolidating the name of this car to yaris worldwide. previously it was sold as vitz and platz in japan, yaris in europe and echo in the north america.

    and no, i won't be able to scan and upload it. photocopying i can manage, but even that would be against the copyrights and IP laws etc. but i justified it as there is no vitz english manual available at all and will not be using for commercial purposes.

    the brand is down to availability and what suits your budget. afterall this is pakistan, it's not like we have much of a chioce, it's down to what tyres are available at the moment.

    The fogs for the 03-04 models which are availale in PK are USELESS, they leak and rust very quickly.

    @amoizp
    congrats on finding a manual, i know alot of members who need them (god knows why).

    i went to see Zubair on the same day when you got the above pic. got the necessary things done like removal of CAT, changing of ATF, fuel filter, air filter and plugs and servicing of throttle body. i am enjoying the drive too. thanks to you for the good piece of advice.
    my question is .... till that time i had not read your comment regarding originality of fuel filter. do u think that Zubair is honest enough to give the original one? the cost was Rs 1500/- for the fuel filter.
