    Default Toyota Vitz Owners/Fan Club

The purpose of this post is to gauge the interest in forming a Toyota Vitz Owners Club in different cities of Pakistan. As we all know that Vitz has become quite popular in the last year or so. More and more people are buying it or are interested to know more about it. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. There would be regular meets and get together as well as cruises. The criteria to join the club would be to own a Vitz and a desire to help and share information with fellow members. I myself am based in Karachi, so I can take the lead in taking off this project here. Other can do the similar thing in their respective cities. If there is enough interest, a formal charter / by-laws would be issued with club rules and regulation as well as its mission statement. The club would operate under the same rules & conditions as other international car clubs. To take this project off the ground, I believe 10 people in each city would be the minimum requirement. If anyone from Karachi is interested in being a part of this club, please email me at danyal1@hotmail.com. Pakwheelers from other cities can share their email addresses under this post if they are willing to take the lead for their respective cities. I hope to this see become a success someday and a model for other to follow. LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS!!!

your vitz only has 1 catalytic converter, the other thing is a silencer.

the unit closest to the engine block is the catalytic converter, it gets blocked due to our leaded petrol and it slowly chokes your engine to death. have it opened from the top, emptied and then resealed.

the 2nd unit is your silencer, it reduces the noise from the combustion process and gives a little back pressure to your exhaust gasses (good for low-end torque), by removing this you will gain 1-2hp up high but the noise will be too much and you'll lose alot more power down low. do not remove it.

Like Storm advised, go for the CAT converter removal and not for te silencer removal Your neighbours would hate you for that (Even more if they do already ).
Another thing which I think is important to know about the cat converter is its function and its utility in Pakistan. It is mainly used to lessen the hazardous gases by converting them to rather harmless gases. Now if you use CNG, hazardous gases specially leaded gases wont be there. If you use gasoline, that is a problem but once your CAT Converter gets choked, your car wont be able to breathe, choice is all yours.
Everyone I am really sorry for being away for so long, I am in Dubai for the last one and a half month and am out of touch and missing a lot of things. Anyways, will try to be in touch with my fellow pak wheelers from now on

indeed, the 1st unit is the catalytis converter, it is located there in order to heat up quickly so that it can be effective.

only thing i find strange is why you have one located there. my car has simple headers and the catalytic converter is located UNDER the car.

still, you'll need to have it opened, cleaned out and resealed. it can also be replaced with a simple pipe since this unit is only wide because it needs to increase its surface area to make it more efficient. personally i believe in having the unit opened and cleaned out rather than replacing it with a length of pipe which will not seal correctly andd will eventially fail due to rust.

from what you have described to me it seems your cat is choked quite heavily and your car is struggling to breath, hopefully once this is fixed your problem will be solved.

what was ur vitz milage when u bought it. i talked to a few dealers n they said k all cars that are imported from japan etc hav already been driven 1lac kms, n the dealers get the milage reduced easily. is it true. i feel there is some truth here. i saw a vitz 2004 model that was only driven 20,000kms. how can a 4 year old car be driven just 20,000 and that also in japan.

I contradict ur statement, coz we personally imported 94 selimited rolla. Which was done 34k kms in japan. Which was far far old model then the vitz u are talking bout. May be someshopkeepers do dat. But most of the cars from there come wid less mileage. U can also guess from the condition of the car.

indeed 99.9% of the vitz in PK are "clocked" cars. that's why i laughed at all the people who said i paid too much for my car which had 74000km on the clock. they said they 99 model pnly had 12000km when they bought it etc...

sadly we live in a fools paradise because we have become so used to a car falling apart after a few KM's (local cars) and we would never suspect an imports to be tampered (it's mainly because they are built better and creak less).

i'd still rather have a clocked vitz over a brand new cultus though,... still life goes on.

Just like to add also that when i got my vitz 2004 it was driven 67991 kms but there was a sticker on teh side door wall on which was written 55000 kms below and then 60000 km on top in pen. Everythign else on the sticker was printed in japanese. I think it was a service sticker.

I also checked my car and there is something similar as shown by logitech in the pic, just behind the radiator that looks like a CAT convertor and another one underneath the car near the front wheels. Now I'm also confused.

Yeah thanks. So the CAT convertor should be the first dholki underneath the car.

Which mechanic do you go to for cleaning throttle body etc of your vitz? I cannot seem to contact mine as he is I think abroad.
