    IMO it should be 20w50 Havoline with temp range upto 50 degC ambient temperature. I have put it in my vitz 2009 and is working fine enough with AC. No drastic reduction in pick or mileage. I still get 10+ km/l which is my target so i am happy with it :-)

    Toyota recommends that you put 5W-30 oil in your Vitz.
    However, i.m.o you can also use 10W-40. This suits not only summers but also winters in Pakistani climate. Additionally, its not a big deviation from the manufacturer's recommended grade.
    Make sure you change oil-filter every time you drain oil, at appropriate interval.

    Brother there is a chart for selecting engine oil for new gen vitz in respect of operating temperature. Browse the Vitz Fan club for that or google for it :-)

    I agree That Vitz is really a Master Piece, Designed in ED Studios of Europe. Its shape and Exhaust Sound are the main reasons to like.

    20/50 is mineral oil and yes it increase the pick up, but this is not fuel efficient oil and will turn engine totally black from inside and within two years it will start going to workshop so regularly.
    Feed synthetic oil. These are fuel efficient, keep engine well clean, cool and healthy. What else you need?
    I have passo and in hot summer with a/c i was getting 13.5km/l in city and on highway it was 17km/l
    i have posted pictures in my threads.

    Guys does anybody know if the caltex pump in f10 sells genuine engine oils?

    Plus also let me know should i put caltex fully synthetic 5w40 oil in my 2005 vitz?

    At the moment i am using normal caltex havoline 20w50 i think and not satisfied.

    My mechanic said that the oil has been run more than twice its normal change interval although it was run for only 2500km so i want to confirm if that pump sells genuine oils or my mechanic is wrong.

    Oil choice for winter use on identification mark

    The most important parameters of oil which you should consider when buying greasing liquid, can be learned on identification mark. We had a separate publication about labeling of automobile oils. Today we will consider, what identification mark should be chosen for drivers in cold climatic zones or during a winter season.

    It is important to find an optimum combination of viscosity, the minimum and maximum temperature of use of liquid in this situation. The majority of motorists in the coldest zones where temperature reaches-45 degrees Celsius in the winter, use the following oils:

    0W30 - the least viscous oil which practically doesn't react to low temperatures;
    5W30 - oil with sufficient viscosity and quite good parameters of temperature endurance;
    10W30 - liquid for less cold climatic zones which one use in winter time in northern parts of Europe;
    10W40 - actually multigrade oil which can be used during summer season.
    One of the most noticeable shortcomings of oil with the first figure on identification mark 0 is too liquid state in an operating mode. When the engine is warmed, such lubricating fluid doesn't provide due lubricant of the DVS elements and results in its increased wear.

    In some climatic areas you can use only such kind of oil; after all it guarantees a starting engine operation actually at any temperatures. For the summer period all oils stated above, except 10W40, should be replaced with more viscous options.

    only cost of Fully synth. oil is going high due to extra additive addition in lube oil.Good for engine health. no affect on fuel consumption.w/r/t (0w30 and 5w30 synth.oil) U can use oil now a days.
    But in June-July(summer season use 10W40 grade oil)
    OK?

    OK?
    But we are talking 1kr-fe engine here. It's 1L engine and the recommended oil by manufacturer is 0w20, 5w25 and 5w-30.
    As per manufacturer, 5w30 could be used but in case of non- availability of 0w20. This may be true in Japan, but here in Pakistan 5w30 in fine in summer; but why 10w40?

    ^^ that chart is outdated and/or wrong. Modern 0w-20 can be used in 40+ weather.

    As Zain has pointed out, this is an out dated chart.
    For vehicles with small displacement engines (1.0 L etc.) like Vitz with 1kr-fe engine, any thing like 10w40 is bad for the engine.
    It is to be noted here that the recommended oil is 0w20. 5w20, 0w30 and 5w30 are acceptable, but not beyond this.
