Default Suzuki Swift vs Vitz, which one to buy?

Dear all, I know this is an old topic but I need a recent take on this as I am on the verge of buying one. Would appreciate your comments/ suggestions. Thanks.

    1. Suzuki Swift 2013 model, 1300cc, Automatic Transmission
    2. New Car
    3. Not much safety features
    4. I have heard that a Japanese swift is better, but the dealers say that it's not imported by the company so any available one would be reconditioned....
    5. Worth Rs 13,98,000
    6. Petrol consumption???????
    7. Resale value???????

    1. Toyota Vitz, 1300cc, Automatic Transmission (I have seen a 2011 model but then people say that latest the version the more damaged the car would be)
    2. Being reconditioned one can never be sure as to how much it had been initially damaged + mileage run
    3. Good interior + safety features (but then being reconditioned it's not necessary e.g: that the air bags would work at the 11th hour or not)
    4. I have heard that the tyers etc. of vitz need to be changed.
    5. Spending around 12 lac on 2009 model & 14 lac on 2011 model??? How wise is this???
    6. Petrol consumption?????????
    7. Resale value of 1000cc is very good but of 1300cc is not good.

swift manual gives 10 km/l.. auto will surely gv less thn this and will hav poor resale.. vitz 1krfe (1.0) 12-14 and 2szfe (1.3) 10-11

swify generally loses less value than vitz.

    interior= vitz
    exterior= debatable
    milage= vitz
    spare parts= swift
    warranty/peace of mind= swift
    ground clearance = swift
vitz 1.0 vibrates.. swift makes noises after sometime
    build quality=vitz

vitz would need new tyres, gear oil change, timing belt replaced, spark plugs, etc

Well i do not know much about Suzuki Swift but my friend who owned a suzuki swift dlx 2012 model told me that ride is good and mileage is in between 9-12 depending upon the driving style.
While in my case we have upgraded our second car which is a family car mostly daily runner from Hyundai Santro Club 2006 to Toyota Vitz 2009 model. We got it all package for around Rs.1200000. The ride is awesome. The mileage in city is around 14 km per litre with A/c on.
The safety features are good. The tires were in good condition so i did not changed them. As i have 1000cc. So i can tell you that there is slight cabin noise. like when you accelerate from 60-80 km/h it feels like that car is lagging. Its taking load but on constant speed it is quite comfortable.

While in my case when i got the car, i immediately took it to the Toyota Dealership and ask for general Check up. The Package includes:
    Engine Oil Change
    Tuning
    All Filters Change
    Gear Oil Change
    Transmission Oil Change
    Coolant Change
    Wheels Balancing and Alignment
    Brakes Servicing
For all the labor cost and parts prices i had to pay Rs. 28800.
P.S. It excludes the Spark Plugs and Fuel Plate.

I Agree.. If u Want a a/t then go for vitz coz JDM auto cars are excellent.. but if u want a manual then never ever buy a vitz (YARIS)
coz resale of m/t vitz is xtremely bad.. as people prefer a/t JDM's not manual

I think the members have given some very useful pointers here. However, I want to add one more thing here - no imported vitz is "reconditioned". They are sold/auctioned "as is". The "reconditioning" is done in Pakistan, pretty much the same way any dealer would "recondition" aka clean, detail etc any used car in Pakistan.

    Suzuki swift
I have recently sold my nissan ad expert 1.5 auto jdm station wagon and bought brandnew swift and AL HAMDULILLAH happy with my decision
Simply the feel of a brandnew car cant be described in words u really have to sit in the car to feel it even axio or used Reborn Civic lacks tht charm
And for the suzukis auto tranny lolz bro it can be trusted
My friend is using auto liana for the last 6 years now driven more than 250000 now without any troubles so obv u can trust brandnew swifts auto tranny even more than used imported vitz

the speed of currency depreciation will keep RESALE of car at the same value as of day as it was brand new so take it easy enjoy & ride the Brand new vehicle. an old used car with no auction report available is not right choice of sane mind if money is not primary issue.

i was in the same situation 3 months ago but i went for a vitz cudnt bear the hard ride of the swift.I purchased a 1300cc i'll grade vitz with very less mileage so no knocking no noise and its not even under powered. Rising prices of petrol dont bother me as i am getting great economy and thats all that matters these days to a salaried person who has to travel alot.

Thank you for this useful info. Now the point is that both have their pros & cons...wish there was a hybrid of these two....Anyways what CAR would you recommend in 1.3L on the basis of the following requirements:
    Place: Lahore
    Usage: Daily around 14 km
    Preference: ATS
Size: Hatch back so that it can be driven & parked easily in rushy areas
Cost: Upto 12 lakh (Maybe 14 in extreme case) Motto: To get a good thing at a reasonable price
    Ideally: New
Requirement: i prefer to keep it for long....so i think the after sale thing should not matter?
Brand: Any(after your comment) but reliable

    AOA

Mate in my humble opinion go for swift. These imported jdms are crap.Id a very hard experience with that so called thingy VITZ. Not at all that fuel efficient which people claim here.all auction sheets are made or printed here in PAKISTAN.Above all in JAPAN no car which had clocked less than 100,000 k or had into accident is auctioned ( MY PERCEPTION ).

On the other hand ID a SWIFT AUTO in my use for a month and believe me its aw-some machine. Fuel consumption in around 9 to 10 kms with 60 % AC on and with four people on board inside city.

Above all its a brand new car plus piece of mind. Maintenance or parts availability aint an issue.

Now coming to resale point of view just check the availability of SWIFT for sale and VITZ in used car for sale section and ull get the idea.

Above all we dont understand a simple formula that CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT ITS A UTILITY.Hope ull get my point.

    regards
True love aint found its built.

Thanks....could you please elaborate what made you buy a 1300cc instead of 1000cc? because i want to get a 1.3l but i'm being told to get a 1.0l since my usage is more within city & 1.0l will give me better fuel economy......what do you say?

Very simple i had owned a 1000cc before it had great fuel eco BUT with 3 ppl and ac turned on it almost died plz note my car was in top notch condition i killed the knocking issue by using hobc but the engine noise, slow pick and less ground clearance (i never altered the tyre size kept it 14 as told by manufacturer ) made me change my mind if i did 120km/h on motorway wid ac it became a gas guzzler simple power to weight ratio problem. Now i got a 1300cc and all is going well

You want peace of mind with resale: Swift
You want a budget car: Vitz
You are a car freak and would like to stomp the pedal at times: Swift
You want less mileage cost but don't mind exp part: Vitz

For me its simple. If you have the budget of 1.1mil get Vitz. If you can extend it to 1.3mil get Swift. Its all about what you can afford according to your range. Sit in both cars, drive them around for a while, slow and fast, uphill down hill, braking, parking..everything and you will know
About the security and safety thing...Swift comes with an immobilizer and ABS brakes with front discs. keep the seat belt on and you are pretty much safe. Vitz lacks the immobilizer while its packs in the AirBags which you never know for sure if they will come out upon impact.

What people say about Swift making noise after sometime, dont believe them. The car is as good as it's owner keeps it. Be is Vitz, Swift or even a Bimmer.

    Happy Selection

My vote: Swift (Fun, Pleasure and Peace of mind)
