Default Recommended gear oil, brake oil, engine oil for vitz 2010 (CVT transmission)

    Dear all,

I have just received delivery of my vitz about 2 days ago. Now I've probably asked this question for the third time, but no one has given me any proper answers. Which oils should I use for my vitz 2010. I am particularly concerned about the CVT transmission since I've heard that the standard Zic oils are harmful for this particular transmission. Please mention the names of the oils which should be used. And no answers like take it to toyota motors or anything.

Use Toyota cvt oil tin pack 4 liter. This is the only cvt oil recommended for vitz 2007 to 2010

    Default CVT- Continuous Variable Transmission

Here are some info on it.
    CVT-Continuously Variable Transmissions
Common in Japan where CVT dominates the micro car sector in particular
Not been a major success in Europe but some notable
Audi Multi-tronic, BMW Mini, Mercedes A and B class
Very few US built vehicles are fitted with CVT but Saturn Vue is one example
However, Japanese built passenger cars are present in these regional markets.
Popular mostly in Japan ? found in over 50 car models
Nissan has stated that as many as 40% of their future passenger cars will be CVT
JATCO now has capacity to produce 1.2 million CVTs per year
Fuel economy is not as high as expected, especially with modern engines
Torque capacity is a limiting factor
    Low numbers - high cost
Future for CVT seems to lay in the mid size vehicle segment with moderate torque engines
    Principle design concepts ?
Push belt, e.g. Van Doorne system
?Almost exclusively used as CVT in Japanese vehicles
?Well suited to fwd transverse configuration
    Chain, e.g. Luk system
?As used in the Audi Multitronic
    Torroidal, e.g. Torotrak
?no significant commercial pass car application
    CVT Functionality

No gears but CVT offers many more gear ratios than step-type AT‟s
CVT‟s use chain or belts that runs between two cone-shaped pulleys
One pulley connects to the engine, the other to the drive train to transfer the power to the wheels
Depending on driver demands, the portion of the pulleys that the belt runs over is varied in diameter
Varying the diameters of the pulleys is comparable to changing gears but is a continuous operation

Main field-failure modes of PB-CVT systems
    1- Shudder in the clutch
Clogging of friction material pores from metal wear debris

2- NVH in the variator (belt-pulley system)
Steel-steel wear leading to noise, slip (malfunction), possible belt breakage
    3- Pump noise
Aerated, foaming, filtered fluid as pulleys simulate high-speed ?centrifuges?
    Hardware design choices are critical

    ATF CVT
Nissan NS-II and Toyota TC are considered the industry standard CVT fluids Over 95% of passenger-car CVTs are combined with engine sizes of <2.3L The friction modifier chemistry preferred by Asia for step-type ATFs is detrimental to steel-steel friction

    Brother,

Since I?ve bought my Passo, I have gone through a deep study of the Oils recently.
Here are the very perfect details according to my 1000CC Passo which has 99% same Engine like Vitz & Belta.

    TRANSMISSION OIL
Only only & only use the below ?Transmission? oil. Do not use any else. Otherwise it may harm the transmission system.
Vitz, Passo & Belta, all three cars have Super CVT system (Continuous Variable Transmission). Hence the recommended Oil is

    TOYOTA CVT FLUID TC, 4L
    CATEGORY: TRANSMISSION FLUID.
PRODUCT NAME: TOYOTA CVT FLUID TC
    PART NO: 08886-02105
    TYPE: FULLY-SYNTHETIC
    MANUFACTURER: EXXON MOBIL JAPAN
    VOLUME: 4L
DESCRIPTION: TOYOTA GENUINE CONTINUOUSLY VARIAVLE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THIS FLUID IS USED IN VEHICLES WITH TOYOTA SUPER CVT.

Its new price is Rs. 4,700/- for 4L. It comes in the steel box. So pay a close attention to the code 08886-02105.
There are v. similar code available in the market 08886-02103 (the digit 3 at the end), but this oil has different characteristics. So pay close attention when buying the correct oil.
Limit to change this transmission oil is 40,000 KM. But even after 40,000 KM if its color (which is originally red) has not changed much, then you can use it till 50,000 KM.
But use only 3.5L and keep 0.5L with you incase of later use.

    ENGINE OIL
Many people use ?Toyot?s oil. But there is a very simple truth, that, TOYOTA DO NOT HAVE THEIR OWN OIL FACTORY. They just buy it from other companies and put their own seals on it. So never use Toyota?s oil.

Somebody here will recommend ?Mobil-1?. This is perhaps best engine oil. But but but, original Mobil-1 is absolutely not available in Pakistan anymore now. Few years back original mobil-1 (Made in usa) was available in Pak., but then a local company has its distribution. And now there are many small distributors sitting over in Karachi who are packing Caltex or Shell?s oil into Mobil-1 boxes. So never believe on this oil any more.

Shell, Caltex, Castrol, Toyota, etc. all are being re-packed in Pak. And we can?t believe the Quality of these oils any more. FYR, I used to use Toyota?s Petron, Zic?s OW, even Toyota?s 10-30, Sinopec, Zippex, etc. etc. but believe me, all these oils are full of **** and Engine?s performance is not perfect as it has to be.

These days there is a new company in Pak. trying to make its position in other oil companies. Its called ?Performa?. Produced by PTT (Petroleum Authority of Kingdom of Thailand). Yet PERFORMA don?t have re-packing in Pakistan. Its new and hence distributers are supplying original oil in market.
They only have 4 types of Engine oils as follows

Performa 20/50 Partially Synthetic ~ Rs. 1800 Change after every 3000 miles.
Performa 10/30 Semi Synthetic ~ Rs. 2500 Change after every 4000 miles.
Performa 5/40 Synthetic ~ Rs. 3000 Change after every 6000~7000 miles.
Performa 0/40 Super Synthetic ~ Rs. 3700 Change after every 7000~8000 miles.

If your call has ran less than 20,000 KM. So I?ll suggest you use their ?Super Synthetic Oil? which 0/40. Its best for ?New Cars?.
When car ran ~40,000 km, then start using 5/40. I am using it now. And really enjoying the smooth drive. Good mileage, excellent engine health, good start, everything perfect.
When car ran over 90,000 km, then you can use 20/50.

Remember, Vitz, Passo & Belta?s engines are based on Euro based & Fully Synthetic technology. So do not use ?thicker oils?. Use Super Synthetic or Fully Synthetic oils only.

Just for your reference, here is the list of oils with respect to best performance & technology. I got this ranking from ?RedLine?s? website.
FYR, RedLine is considered The Best Oil company for Cars in USA and it in direct competition with Mobil-1 (just like Apple & Samsung these days). But in Pakistan, majority knows Mobil-1 and there are very few people (like me) who knows that Redline is even better than Mobil-1.

    5W30 Motor Oil
    Euro-Series 5W30 Motor Oil
    5W40 Motor Oil
Euro-Series 5W40 Motor Oil ?? Use this oil for your Vitz.

    10W60 Motor Oil
    10W30 Motorcycle Oil
    10W40 Motorcycle Oil
    20W50 Motorcycle Oil

Note: I am not a distributor of Performa company, but writing all above according to my own perception, insightfulness, awareness & understanding.

    Yes right.
Redline do not have any distribution yet in Pak.
But I just mentioned above ranking of their oils (from their website), to let the asker know, that 5/40 Performa oil which I recommend to him is really good oil and appears in the top level oils of Redline?s ranking of Oil?s quality/grades.
Nevertheless, I like your close attention on my post.
    Cheers!!
