Default Which one would be a wise buy out of Vitz 1.3L & Vitz 1.0L? (2011 model)

    My usage: Mostly within Lahore
Out of City travel: Very less (once in a 3 months)

I know apparently 1.0L appears to be a better option but people have suggested to me to get 1.3L to be at ease for longer out of city routes whenever required.

    NEED SUGGESTIONS. Thanks

if car weight is same , both should give similar mileage according to my law of certain power required to pull certain amount of weight. 1.3l will only benefit from more power when you reach full limit of 1.0l

i tried 1.3l corolla engine 2e vs 1.6 4age in corolla. car weight was same, fuel tank was same. surprisingly 4age gave bit better mileage than 2e ,, at average speed 120km

technically 4age engine corolla is about 80 kg heavier than 2e engine corolla. I remember another interesting observation BMW 316i and BMW 318i has same torque band and 318i showed minor increase near red line zone only. This proves both cars will consume more or less same amount of fuel on average engine speeds

not much. if you put fat tires on 1.0l for example. it will eat more fuel than regulat tires on 1.3l

take it from someone who has kept both.
My 1.3l vitz has a lot more power than 1.0l and the mileage is almost the same... 1.3l gives me slightly better mileage.

I've got 1.3L vitz, and have driven 1.0L vitz. 1.0L felt so under-powered and noisy that I had once decided to go for swift, then I drove 1.3L and went for it. And I think it was a good decision.

    Parameter 1.0L 1KR-FE 1.3L 2SZ-FE
    Mileage (City/with AC) 15 kmpl* 14 kmpl**
    Mileage (Highway/with AC) 18 kmpl* 18 kmpl**
Engine Noise Mostly Unbearable Like any other car
Knocking Fuel dependant (Usually there) None
Power Underpowered Good enough for highway
    Winner** - This one

    * As per my judgement from PW members, it varies largely though, some even get 9 kmpl in city or some even claim 16 kmpl.
    ** As per my experience

And as @levin has correctly pointed out, it depends on other factors too. 1.3L can be more economical than 1.0L.
