you just dumped about USD 100/- worth of platinum, palladium etc on the ground. And to make it worse you just completely messed up your car's ECU mapping. Its designed to fuel the engine keeping in mind that the engine also has a working cat converter. The little sensor after the cat actually has a job.

every catalytic converter in the world has those metals - the ceramic core is plated with it internally. It doesnt matter if the car is a rolls royce or a cheap as chips vitz

The post cat sensor is not looking for backpressure. Its looking for O2 content. The O2 sensors are also wear out and tune up items but no-one in Pakistan replaces them as they are quite expensive - Toyota AFR sensors are about 300 dollars aka Rs 30,000/- and the o2 sensor is about USD 80/- or about Rs 8000/-

These are usually worn out at every 100,000 kms - or depending on drive style or poisoning by silicone or coolant or leaks etc.

If you closely look at the broken cat ceramic core with a magnifier you may find some shiny metallic particles like "glitter" that is the precious metal Im talking about - its far more expensive than gold.

    Wrong -

    Catalytic converters:

Catalytic converters are fitted to both petrol and diesel engines and contribute to the reduction of harmful exhaust gases, such as hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO).

The exhaust gases pass through a honeycomb brick, which is coated with noble metals (i.e., platinum, palladium and/or rhodium), which convert undesirable hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and water, and nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and water.

when you buy a certain car - you buy its maintenance too - throwing stuff away because its too expensive to replace is perfectly fit for the saying

Was there a secondary O2 sensor in the car after the cat converter?

Giving your car a high-speed run on highway/motorway once in a while prevents major surgeries like these.

the car was just few thousand kms driven
diagnosed choken cat converter.company cleaned it and installed it back

not everyone can afford hi octane
