Default Pick N Power of City Vs. Vitz

    Hey all,

Have read many reviews of the 1.3isdi (Vario) city. With regards to pick, users seem unimpressed.

Could anyone compare the pick of the isdi (AUTOMATIC) with the pick of an Automatic Vitz.

I know that the city is a 1300cc car n vitz is a 1000cc car, however, the vitz having a vvti engine, its quite possible that vitz would take the city in a signal to signal drag.

Also, what would the top speeds be of these two cars???
I have sat in a vitz once which did 150Km/hr. On super highway.

    Thanx, and awaiting your reply!

Had a friends City Vario for over a month, and did everything possible! For one, pick isnt impressive, but if you switch into "S" or "L" mode, you can really feel the thrust(well kinda), the former can be used in drag's! Top speed is around 160Kph after which the car kinda feels non-responsive, and it isnt bad, considering its a 8valve engine plus automatic and air conditioning! Not sure about the Vitz, but im sure the City can beat it in a drag!

    Hello!
i can't say about that..........Vitz lacks on pick on Auto as i know........but i also know that it can also touch 55km in 1st on Auto within some secs...........69Horses are not damn driven by auto but manual one are surely gonna work......
16V VVT-i vs 8V ........i think City can't was either equal or gonna left behind by Vitz...........

City is responsive in S and L mode I 2nd GLI
If both are automatic than I think CITY should win (never tested though). It is IDSI engine but it is also 300CC more.

I can do 160km/hr with AC very easily on highways.

@statbat, thats exactly what I said. Not very responsive, but decently better than D. Bottom line, Vario isnt meant for racing, its geared towards providing good fuel consumption and a nice tireless drive!

very silly topic! both are economy cars with lazy power-sapping autos...

Guys I have driven all these cars for example City DSI Liana corolla XLi and VItz and here is the comparison:

    1. Official figure of Vitz (1000 cc 99-2004 models) 0-100 KPH time is 13.6 seconds whereas for Vario City is 13.7 seconds, so this should answer all questions, Anyway as far as practical experience is concerned, Vitz has a good pick initially, however I am not sure of speeds in excess of 100-120 KPH. Compare it with 1.3 Liana, its initial pick is also not good. However one should know how to drive Vitz to its optimum acceleration. Start on L mode and take it to about 30 KPH, then engage 2 mode and take it to about 80-90 KPH and then engage D mode.

    2. BHP of Vitz is about 68 and of city is about 77, but City is a whole lot heavier car, about 200 Kgs heavier than Vitz, so difference in HP is negated.

    3. I was really depressed by LIANAs pick, I was frankly expecting more.

    regards to all

    Deloy

i dunno why its important for you to know... but both these cars arent good for dragging...

the idsi vario is CVT which is totally aimed towards better fuel consuption... and having a 1246 cc engine... it lacks the extra poke which a 1300 cc car should have...

vitz 1000cc has a suitable engine ratio... people have given you the figures... the cars are going to perform the same... whatever difference there will be...it will be because of the combination of the driver and his use of the transmission...

i have driven both the engines ..on manual transmissons... and what i could easly figure out that both the engines dont have any punch in them... they have got near linear acceleration... if you plot a graph there will be no spike of accelration at any point....
Do the environment a favour, Use less airconditioning .. and please walk to the shop to get a pack of cigarretes..its only a 3 min walk..

    @outcast
I recently bought a vitz auto and already have an auto city in the family as well. so i do know what i'm talking about.

They are both economy cars like i said earlier.

Anyways the city seems faster off the line but the vitz seems to be able to beat the city till 100km but i've not taken either n the M-way so i can't comment on high speed driving.
