    Default Vitz Transmission Issue (likely)

I'm having a weird problem with my Vitz (1000cc) for the past few weeks. Sometimes, when I start the car on A/C after a brief stop (of say 5 minutes) and push the accelerator, there is simply no revving and the car refuses to move at a greater speed than the naturally set speed for 'D'. When I say revv, even the engine sound of high RPM is not there. It's simply like I'm pressing a dummy paddle.

I got my Transmission fluid changed and the whole gearbox cleaned. I changed the pipes carrying the brake fluid since they seemed pretty clogged but this problem simply refuses to disappear. I don't have much idea about these things work but my hunch is it's most likely some issue with the Gearbox or perhaps the A/C...

I was about to get my Fuel Injectors cleaned but this type of non-responsiveness can't simply be explained away by clogged injectors. More importantly, once I'm doing 40-50 km/h, the car accelerates to higher speeds quite nicely with or without the A/C on.

Any ideas, with some logic/evidence are highly appreciated.

I'm in Karachi (Gulshan-e-Iqbal) and my throttle body is good.
@salmanrasheedpsh what do you mean by drive by wire system? @ekdrifter if it is any issue with the sensor of the pedal, how do I fix it?

Sincere apologies for the late reply.

check the connector on the throttle body and make sure it properly fitted with the tab locked..also see if the pins inside the connector are clean or not

check the connector on your accelerator pedal and ensure the same..

make sure that the throttle body plate doesn't get stuck because of dirt / sludge

i'm assuming that you have the vitz 1000cc 3 cylinder 1KR-FE engine with CVT (since you never mentioned what model vitz do you have exactly)

@vvajahat I can understand it's the gearbox if there wasn't any speeding up at all or at least if I could hear the engine hum loudly when I press the gas pedal. Engine not humming can't be associated with gearbox... 50k is quite steep.
@syncview Yes your assumption is correct.

So can it be ascertained if there are problems with the gearbox?

How many days have passed by since u changed the cvt oil? I have noticed that when u get the cvt oil changed; the car behaves weirdly for a few days. My car used to not move for a couple of seconds when put in D and then it used to kind of move forward in a jump start kind of way. It all settled down after a few days. Maybe the ecu learns the new settings etc. Did u remove the battery terminals when u got some work done? It might have reset the ECU as well

Have u gotten ur car scanned? The fault codes really help a lot in finding the specific issue.

@ekdrifter and @Einstein Scanning for codes works only when the car has a one of the lights on right? Mine are all clear. If not however, then who could possibly do this? Toyota Motors?

There are many sensors and many fault codes and i might be wrong but i don't think engine check light would come on for each and every fault code. You can go to a reputable mechanic in ur area who has that diagnostic tool for vitz and get your car scanned. It will not cost much (300-1000 rs) and you might just find the root cause of this issue.

Remember any XYZ mechanic who has the diagnostic tool cannot be assumed as a master mechanic for your car.

I have heard extremely twisted theories by these ustads so make sure you visit the right guy.

Check Fuel pump... It could be due to low fuel pressure when you need it while pressing the pedal.
