Default Toyota Vitz 2003 Check light on After Cat. Converter removal

    Hey PW's,
I had my vitz's Cat converter removed after it had become extremely heavy and the average had gone down to 7-8 per liter. I showed it to the exhaust wala. He said that he would remove the cat. He said that no complications would be involved and all. After he had replaced it, the light came on. I first disconnected the terminals (battery) and it went away. It came back after a while. I showed it to toyota who scanned it and told me I needed to replace my Cat converter and O2 sensor. He estimated nearly 120k for both! I went back to the exhaust wala. He sent me to a mechanic of his. The mechanic said that the catalytic converter was choked. The ECU had set the values accordingly. The heat valve had been opened. Now when it was able to get air, it could not re adjust the values. He said that I need to replace the O2 sensor and it would go away as the new sensor would adopt to the conditions. He quoted a total of 4000/- with labour for a Kabuli sensor. I need to get this light to go away. What should I do? I'm really worried! Please reply urgently! Does anyone know any toyota (japenese) spare ppart dealer in Bilal gunj? I need to get a new Oxygen sensor with a Catalytic converter.

If you don't want to install cat convertor then put a O2 sensor simulator to avoid cell light.
Never loose hope in life, every step gives u something.

In my opinion, there is a chance that cable got broken during cat removal. You can rule this out by measuring voltage on the O2 sensor (it should be between 0.1 ~ 0.9V

By the way how is the fuel consumption? Worse case scenario is that your O2 sensor might be faulty and put you in limp mode, hence increase fuel consumption.
