    Default Vitz Striptease

Asalamoalaikum Dear Pakwheelers! Most of us know the importance of good maintenance and detailing when done professionally or even by our ownselves. The level of satisfaction is immense. I had bought a 2010 Toyota Vitz for my family as a daily driver. In fact, calling it a workhorse would be more suitable. While I was away, the vehicle was given for detailed servicing (detailing) at PSO Gas Pump located in Bahria Phase 4 who charged 2500/- per session. Rip offs. When I came and saw the vehicle, to my horror, it was in a mess. This time around, I took matter into my own hands. So let the pictures do the talking.

Bro yesterday (to my surprise that i didn't know earlier) i found a premio totally stripped including bumpers in the drive way of my parent's house.

upon investigation i came to know that the husband of the lady who works at my parents place is the expert and infact its his business to clean the cars after stripping them.

i met him to investigate the details and he told me that usually people give him cars for stripped cleaning before selling. he charge 3K for that. job includes complete interior including taking the seats and carpets out. Also the trunk and engine bay cleaning.

i asked him which chemicals do they use and he told me that they use acid. i opened the car to check the quality of the job and for another hour my eyes and hands kept burning.

the quality of the work was around 50-60% of the detail the way you do (i think it should be acceptable to those who cant do it themselves).

however there is a query in my mind, lets say if they are using raw acid on the car paint, isnt it suppose to impact the color and cause corrosion?

just thought to share my experience.

Technically yes but then there are some who would go on swearing that they do the job with less effort and money than I would put in with just a bottle of acid. They are the ones who know the dilution ratio and the time for the diluted acid to be left on a specific portion. And yes it works. But, you screw up one bit and you are done big time.

Bro these are available at almost all accessories shops. They should NOT cost you more than 5500-6000/- box packed. But I doubt if you will get a single lamp. Another option is to just get the two lamps excluding the wiring, switch, cover plates and packing.

IMPORTANT: Anyone purchasing DEPO branded fog lamps, please be very careful as there are three kinds of lots in the market. Genuine (Quality Control Certified), Fake or copies and Quality Control Rejects which have found their way here. Thumb rule is that either get from an authentic vendor or inspect the inner chrome finish carefully.

I roamed about quite a lot in Isb/Rwp and in the process rejected two sets of brand new DEPO fog lamps. Reason was discolouration/strange spots on the chrome inside the housing. Issues with the lens/body bonding. Those who import here in Isb / Rwp from Lahore carry the same issues. If you could get them from Karachi, you'll be a happy camper.

The other option is to get ESUSE. Comparatively a newer brand but has OEM certification. Their build quality, weight and finishing was much better than the DEPO ones I rejected here. To make matters worse, difference in price is about 500/- only with DEPO being 500/- more than ESUS. Do not settle for DLAA or anything else.

Alternatively, you could get OEM Toyota made by Koito that come as standard in Grande/Altis (lamps only). Also purchase front or face plates OEM Toyota (Made in Pakistan), purchase the wiring separately. But remember, these OEM Toyota fog lamps MAY NOT be able to bear Xenon HID Kits. Anyway, hopefully they would cost you close to DEPO/ESUSE sets.

Try Sheikh Autos or something in Lahore. They might be carrying the genuine product. Else don't sweat it go for ESUS.

This was one the great cleaning part a car can get, few pics copied to the main post.

DART seems like a clean one, but when ever you plan, it will be a treat to watch.

@fouadbakht, Sir I am also a silent reader of your "striptease" thread. Moreover, I had also followed your method of detailing of your vitz 2010 & does some similar detailing work on my vitz 2001 but without those degreasers & meguiar's products because of shortage of budget If you allow me, then I will be happy to share some pics of my detailing work !

Humayun bhai, if you were in Islamabad or Rawalpindi, I would have invited you to come over my place and we would have refreshed your ride from scratch. Drop by sometime if you're visiting nearby.
Please post as many pics of your ride specially during detailing. Let's see what you've got.
