guys since i am experiencing extensive knocking issue on my 2SZ FE vitz. and the issue has been identified by pakwheels experts related with the use of ZIC A+ (5W-20) a less viscous oil. i am going to change the engine oil.

short listed oils are mentioned below

    Caltex Havoline 5W-40
    Micking Max Super 10W-40
    Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40
    Micking Max premium 5W-50

all of these will cost between 2500-3500 Rs. I have compared the viscosity of these oils and all of them have considerably higher numbers at 40 and 100 Degrees.

I have had a personal good experience with Micking so inclined towards using it. probably will go for 10W-40 Max Super Fully synthetic.

Please give your suggestions for the guidance.

    Guys/experts.

i am stuck here. i changed the oil after running on Zic A+ for just 1500 KMs.

Switched to Micking fully synthetic 10/40 however there seems to be no improvement in knocking issue.

    What to do now?

Should i reset the ECU? Any other thing which i need to check.

    10-40 is too viscuous
    Use 5-30 or 5-40

I doubt that. I believe there is another reason for the knocking.

    need a realistic solution.

with new 10-40 oil i have seen marked improvement in pickup of the car. earlier it went down with 5-20 oil. now its back where i m starting to get the confidence to beat every city, GLI/XLI out there again .

Also the knocking is more experienced during day time/hot conditions. early in the morning and at night it becomes negligble automatically.

bro use only recommended engine oil grade in ur car which is 5-40

for knocking use hioctance and regular in 60/40 ratio
if still knocking issue get ur car ecu scanned and injectors checked

    Default Dirty MAF

Have you checked your MAF sensor ( Mass air flow)? A dirty MAF significantly hampers performance and mileage of car! You will see improvements in mileage also reset ecu after cleaning MAF
Where do you get your car fuelled?
If knocking issue isn't resolved tappet adjustments might be required what is your car's odometer reading

bro knocking has improved a lot. i have shifted to constitution avenue PSO pump. And with micking oil there is marked improvement in knocking now. Milage is ok around 12 km/l which i think is appropriate.

there is another obervation, when i changed the oil the quantity that i put in to meet the mark is around 3.6-3.7 litres. however as per my recent experience with toyota in another car they pul in 4.5 litres.

toyota mechanic suggested to use around 4.5 litres in 1800 CC corolla. if that is the case should i put in more engine oil (laying with me around quarter of a litre) in the engine - 2SZFE.

this might also have an impact on knocking. experts please suggest.

What you have done till now is okay. Use Hi-Octane fuel in a ratio that is manageable as per your budget. Do use fuel additives (Fuel System Cleaners and Injector Cleaners) once or twice to clean fuel lines. Have you also changed CVT oil. If not, do it.

    Thanks for the feed back.

    CVT oil has been changed.

Can you please confirm the amount of oil that goes in vitz 1.3 any idea? i have put in around 3.5-3.6 litres and it is at the exact level as marked on the dip stick.

    @DrUsmanNawaz

Bro Between 12-14. These days I have shifted my driving style to slightly higher revs so mileage has come down to 12.

But with light foot it was around 14 km/litre.
