Question Best Vitz Mechanic in Rawalpindi / Islamabad

Who is the best person to have my Vitz (1.0) 2005 checked in Rwp/Isd. The ABS light is not going off. Engine knocking on certain rpm, mileage dropped and loss of power. When accelerating at first the car pick is fine, leaving other cars on traffic lights, but after that around 40-50 it feels as if the car is dragging something (becomes heavy) and engine knock is felt, once momentum takes over and higher rpm, the drive becomes smooth.

    I am using

    Liqui Molly 5W-30 engine oil.
    Original oil filter
    Original Air filter
Original Drum brakes replaced with another pair of genuine pads but they squeal when slowing down for speed bumps etc.
Replaced spark plugs with Toyota iridium about 6 months ago.

Never had exhaust system checked though. People suggest removing CAT converter but I am not convinced as it's just word of mouth but no information on how it affects the engine in long run.

Never had engine tuned up or ratios reset. Which I think is the case here but I am unable to find a qualified person in Rwp. My regular mechanic, though expert with automatic imported cars, still haven't been able to restore power and mileage. All he suggests is to change CVT fluid but I had it replaced about 40K km earlier.

    Any my more suggestions ?

Get It OBD Scanned And Diagnose The Error Codes..!

2ndly Check If There's Any Smoke Or Any Sign Of Oil Burning Or Reduction Of Oil LEVEL....!

For Knocking Try A Ratio Of 60/40 For Super To HOBC And See If It Helps....All High CR Engines KNOCK.....

CVT Oil Need To Be Changed Every 50k Km....!

No reduction in oil. No smoke through exhaust normally but sometimes low grade fuel makes smoke but disappears after revving the engine.

Yes. The knocking reduces when high octane is mixed in. But I haven't tried 60/40 ratio. I use injector cleaner regularly which also helps reduce knocking but it doesn't disappear.

I changed CVT fluid at 35K ODO. Now it's at 79K on ODO.

CVT Oil Change Due After 6k kms.....For Knocking You Need To Use HOBC Since Our Super Unleaded Is LOW RON..Choose Best PUMP In Town For Fuel Refill And Don't Change It....Get Your HOBC Mixture Adjusted On Regular Basis.......However Get It OBD Scanned For Finding If There's Any Sensor Malfunction Also....!

    Thanks for detailed reply.

Ok. I'll have OBD readings. Talked to a guy Atta-ur-Rehman. He has a workshop near faizabad (Rehman Motors). Another user on this forum had very good experience so I'll go when get some time.

What does 1 bar on fuel gauge represents? May be I am calculating mileage wrong. As I haven't been on long route for some time.

No I haven't tried another vitz. Just once test drive a 2011 model but the car was almost new so couldn't guess if it had anything off the normal behavior. But this power loss which is kind of heavy feeling has started in last 2000km run but improved by 50-60% after engine oil change.

Bro 1 bar fuel equals 5 liter
Its my calculations may be its incorrect
The tank is of 42 liter capacity divide it over 8 bars
    U get 5.25 liters

Yes, My own observation is the same. Though it's not linear, when tank is full the top bar runs for 60+ Km, but middle ones run for around 40-50 Km depending on traffic, AC and number of passengers.

More like 9-11 for me. I'll have wheel alignments checked though, they often mess up mileage. About driving style, I know CVT engine has linear curve and no matter if you floor it or not, the speed will go up steadily. So light foot on throttle is how I drive.

What about keeping the car in D when stopping on traffic lights, or do you put it in N ?

I do have 14" Alloy Rims with larger tires than normal, I guess they are 185. I bought the car with Rims already fitted.

@SER_GTR do you think weak fuel pump or old fuel filter might be causing engine to suffocate when RPM increases. My car does take 2x self for cold start but often takes a long self to start.

When I bought the car, the owner had the faulty fuel pump replaced with a corolla one (Modified by mechanic). Don't ask how I found that out. Just imagine standing in full sunlight in june at 4PM at the middle of traffic stop.

Anyway I found an original (not sure) fuel pump from market for around 10K and have been using it for last 3 years but it did gave problems about 1.5 years ago and mechanic told me to replace it but I refused as it's costly. Now I think it may be causing problems like loss of power when throttle increases or knocking.

I think only OBD readings can tell about the real issue.
