    Default Vitz 1KR-FE Conversion to 2SZ-FE

    Hi,

    I am getting my Vitz 1000cc converted to 1300cc with a 2SZ-FE Engine. Ive managed to purchase the engine from Lahore for 82000Rs and getting it fixed in my car.

    I have two questions
    1. Is the price of the Engine good enough
    2. The exhaust system of the 1000cc and 1300cc must have some changes. Most of the mechanics and engine dealers ive met are insisting that there's no need to change the exhaust line and silencers as they are perfectly compatible with 2SZ-FE whereas I believe that there has to be some difference and by not doing so I will be compromising the quality of performance and engine life. Can anybody please advise if the exhaust line and silencers should be replaced and any place from where I can get it from as I was unable to find the exhaust line from Bilal Ganj.

    Also if anybody who has done this in the past can share their experiences of the conversion in terms of performance, mileage and comfort and any issues they might have encountered.

    as far as i know there is a difference in the exhaust. however i think your current exhaust might still serve the purpose properly.

    you can go ahead with the current exhaust and only think about changing it incase you face any issue.

    The exhaust is not compatible... you will have to fabricate the collar and align it accordingly if u r getting the engine with the headers...

    Also, that is an insane amount u paid for a 2sz... one can get 1nz with auto tranny for that much...

    @waleed911 the engine I've purchased includes the engine, gearbox, computer and wiring, ac compressor. The rate that I got for the complete thing was between 90 and 100k from Bilal Ganj. If it was only the engine block that was available for 45k.

    As for the exhaust the reason why I'm.concerned is that if the exhaust of the engine is not properly ventilated during high revs the engine will get damaged in the long run. Any thoughts.

    The exhausts of 1.0 and 1.3 are not the same. This one being narrow will give more back pressure and not allow free flow of exhaust gases. This will restrict your engine performance and also affect your fuel economy.
    You have to try your luck in finding a genuine exhaust from engine to the tail pipe because otherwise even if you get a larger diameter exhaust fabricated locally, you will use local material and mufflers which will never be the same as a Japanese one. Also if the rubber mounts and their brackets are not fixed properly you will get vibration in the car.

    An original exhaust system is the best for any car. But sadly in pakistan, we don't give it the attention it deserves.

    Exaust systems of both 1.3 & 1.0 are different, bcz it contains many minor changes. But dude, it is pakistan. Just fit your 1.0's exhaust with this engine with some minor alteration and you are good to go.

    How on earth exhaust of 1krfe and 2szfe interchangeable 1krfe is 3cyl engine and 2szfe is 4cyl engine

    @Khurram26 @saboor73 thank you guys for your feedback. Khurram and Saboor I agree with you and hence the concern with the exhaust. For now I had to get the exhaust fabiracated locally and I am planning on getting the Exhaust Pipeline ordered from Japan. Ive been speaking to some importers and they've yet to get back to me if they can get it for me and the cost. If you have any ideas regarding on how to get the original exhaust please do let me know.     Sir, fabricating an exhaust locally will be more economical... I ve heard from a friend some time ago that the complete dual catalytic converter exhaust without headers or muffler was over 27k... And that was some time ago...

    Did u get the manual gearbox or the automatic one?.. The auto is a 4 speed with over drive same as first gen Vitz... So u cud actually get that one for cheaper... But since u ve already bought all the stuff, best of luck getting it installed...

    you mean to say .. 3 cylinder engine exhaust manifold can be rigged to a 4 cylinder engine head ?? really ! ??

    @waleed911 for now since I was unable to find the complete exhaust I got one locally fabricated with two catalytic converters. I've got another unusual issue. The gear box gets more and more noisy as the car heats up or runs for 10-15km. I got the gearbox replaced today but the noise is still there. The gearbox guy is insisting that I add a half a litre engine oil in the gearbox since these imported gearboxes are kept without any running for quite some time so this is a lubrication issue. I tend to disagree with his suggestion.

    Can anyone confirm if I can get the 1kr-fe gearbox fitted on 2sz-fe I know that the gearbox is the same for both the engines but I had doubts regarding it's fitting and coupling.

    Also can anyone suggest if I should get the axles changed from 1000cc to 1300cc since the later engines have by default slightly bigger axles in size.

    U should have kept ur own gear box ! They are compatible , how much did the swap cost in total ? Labour exhaust everything ?

    @salmanrasheeedpsh I still have the original gear box with me here's the cost breakdown so far
    82k for Engine, Gearbox, ECU, Wiring, Generator and Compressor
    8k for larges axles of 1.3ltr
    15k Labor for swapping
    10k for the exhaust
    4700 for gear Oil
    Approx 2000 for engine oil and filter

    I have to return my previous engine but I've kept it with me.just in case. Plus I have a one month warranty from the seller incase if anything goes wrong. So far he has been cooperative since the compressor was replaced and the gearbox was replaced.

    If I return the gearbox the seller will knock off 15k from the price.

    The gearbox is less noisier than the one on the 1krfe... I m not sure whether the CVT wud be operational with sz... U might have to get the appropriate ECU for that... Search online, if u find such a conversion then go for it...

    @saboor73 when the car starts up and engine is rev up its just the engine noise which is normal. But when the car is driven for 10km and everything starts to heat along with engine noise there's this wheezing sound. I tried lowering the rpm and putting the car in B gear and the noise appears. No engine noise just wheezing noise from the gearbox

    Put your car in N when noise appears and then increase rpm. If you hear the same whizzing noise then the gear box oil pump bearing is bad. My gear box had the same problem and after like 6 months the tranny died. I purchased a kabli one and its working like a charm. No noise. And how much gear oil u filled? . when gear box is completely empty it requires approx 5 to 5.5 litre of oil.
