    Default getting started with VITZ

    Hi,
There was a topic someone like this one but not exactly my question answered so here it goes. Can someone please list down the things to do as soon as you buy a new vitz. I mean, what stuff to change. Filters, belts, oils or whatever. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks.

i will get seat covers, floor mats and stearing cover........but other than that, why waste money, unless there is a problem. Why not enjoy your car as it is?

Sinbad, its not about wasting money, its about being prudent and safeguarding your investment. most VITZ here have their meters reversed, so there's no real way of telling how much the car has actually run. Chaning engine oil/filter, plugs, Power steering fluid, A/T Fluid and Break Fluid seems to be your best bet. Tension free driving for the new owner. Why not spend now to save yourself from a potential headache later, which will end in You actually paying more had you paid for the initial basic maintenance. regards.

    check its oil level

    1. brake oil
    2. mobil oil (color too)
    3. gear oil
    4. power steering oil

try to change everyone of them coz u dont know when these were lastly changed. specially gear oil, mobil oil.

check its timing belts and hose pipes.

check the level of mobil oil on daily basis. check its water level in radiator on daily basis for sometime
when u feel its all proper then have thund :p

    good luck with ur car.

ok. in that case here are some ideas:

    -oil/filter change.
-check air filter to make sure its clean.
-check all flued levels Power steering fluid, A/T Fluid and Break Fluid (i dont need you need them changed) water, windshield washer fill.
-take it to a reliable mechanic and he can check the plugs for you.
-make sure tyre pressure is right.
-make sure all lights, blinkers are working.

If you get any car without maintainance history, get all the servicable components changed, e.g. oil, filter, plugs, break shoes, belts, etc.

Over here toyota (indus) dealers also offer services for vitz, and they have the service guides etc. try them.

thanks for the info guys. Actually my vitz has now turned into a yaris I'm getting 3 years later model and with CNG at around the same price or a little more. plus its manual and someone here has put cng in it. I have driven it on CNG and it is good. Yeah yeah i know we have a "say no to cng" club down here but i travel a lot and won't be able to afford it on petrol. Its got a digital meter with rpm and has 5 headlight beam levels. "yaris vs vitz". What do you say? Yaris has less features. But i dont know which car is better. Europian or japanese. Waisay i have heard that europian quality is better but japanese have more features and luxury. Yaaro one more thing. I read in one thread that one person's vitz's engine problem light had turned on. (the orange thing. sort of like a camera). Were you able to fix that whoever you are. Cause in this yaris, the same light was on but the car was driving fine. I wonder why it was on.

roxicator, if you have a 1000CC Yaris and that too M/T, im sure it should give exceptionally good fuel average. Any ways, its your choice to use DEADLY CNG, and the check engine light is on in your car due to the CNG, have a nice day !
