    Exclamation Vitz 2011 Low Mileage & Oil Recommendation?

    Hey guys,

    I have a Vitz 2011 I bought like 6 months back, changed CVT oil (from Toyota Ravi Thokar Niaz LHR, they said it had burnt smell), got it tuned (its engine was vibrating a little bit, they washed the throttle body and stuff).

    1. Anyway, right now, my Vitz giving me like 8-9 km/litre in the city (have no idea what it was before I got its CVT oil changed). I don't drive fast (40-50km/h maybe in the city). Any reason why mileage is so damn low? (or it it normal at this speed, live in Sahiwal and it ain't a big city) (by the way, mileage starts increasing as soon as like I cross 50km/h but I feel like it has more to do with a consistent speed rather than some speed limit)

    2. It happens usually when AC is on and I come back and like stop in front of my garage, I think RPM drops or something and it dies (I have to restart it) - has happened like 4-5 times. How do I fix it (or where do I take it to fix it).

    3. I need to change engine oil, I think I am past the due date by 500kms or something. What is recommended? A driver once told me to use Kixx synthetic oil.

    Any thoughts please, would greatly appreciate your input.

    What viscosity engine oil are you using at the moment?
    Recommend viscosities are 5w20 and 5w30, if I am correct.

    @nawan885 - well, Sahiwal ain't no Singapore - but still my mileage seems lot less.
    @waleed96 - I have no idea, getting acquainted (for the first time) with car's insider details with help of forum.
    @aamirq - will take my car to Toyota SWL for a check up for sure, thanks a lot.

    @nawan885

    That's some excellent mileage IMO. Any secret to that, could it be the engine oil?

    So finally went to Toyota S3.

    Told them about average and everything, the guy (some manager or someone) said it's kinda normal, to achieve 8-9km/l if the speed is 40km/h in the city.

    Got engine oil changed, they used Petron 20w-50 (asked the senior mechanic why not 5-30 and so on) and he suggested that I use the Petron as it can withstand max. temperature. Fuel filter and air filter were also replaced.

    Senior mechanic took my car for a test drive (along with me) and when he came back, he said that engine was (a bit weak suggesting maybe CAT converter is choked) (also heard over his conversation with manager and he was saying to him like engine was 80% - but then he also said, all JDM Vitz have somewhat weak engines when they land in here in PK.

    Anyway, everything else seemed fine, senior mechanic cleaned the CAT converter, used some silicone gel as he said there was some current leakage so hopefully RPM shouldn't drop.

    Been two days and mileage seems improved to me. RPM also looks stable when I drive the car into my garage with AC on.

    But still I feel (esp. when reversing the car on a slope) that it's underpowered (as compared to before my visit and all the changes they did).

    So what do you think guys.

    Thanks nawan885 for the update on your mileage, it's amazing though I usually keep the speed like under 40km/h.

    P.S: Funny thing is somewhere deep inside I am thinking, well, let's save some money (and sell this car - though I love its comfy drive and just like it) and buy a sedan next time, maybe Prius or GLi AT.

    Ufff 20w50 in a vitz. Never listen to these illiterate mechanics. Use it for 3k kms and then change to 0w30 or 5w30.

    Whoa @zulayed

    Well, then let me know which brand I should go for or any name please.

    I went to Toyota S3 and that mechanic seemed better to me (at least way better than local ones)

    U can use zic 0w30 or total quartz 9000 5w30. Zic 5w20 can also be used but i have no experience with that. But be sure to buy from a good shop as zic has many fakes in the market.

    man you just made a biggest mistake by pouring 20w50 in it,
    remove it asap even 10w30 is thick for this engine
    change to liqui moly 5w30
    or zic 5w20 oil as soon as posible,
    im attaching a screenshot of my VITZ's owner manual for those people who are saying in this weather use 10w40 and above oil,

    Thank you for your suggestion guys, appreciate it.
    @COOLTAHIR, the screenshot isn't working.

    I forgot to mention that ODO at the time of recent oil change was 80,100 kms.
