Default ELM OBD2 Portable device compatibility with vitz 2008

I bought one ELM OBD2 Portable device and tried to use it using Torque pro app. What I dont understand is that it gives the problem of " unable to connect to ECU". So I want to ask, does it work with vitz 2008 and if yes, any help would be appreciated and will be grateful

Your car is not obd2 fully compliant if it's a Japan domestic import (i have 2009 which is JOBD)

Wait for next update of torque pro ( next week) i have beta test it and it connects (check/clear error codes) BUT, you will need extended pids to monitor car sensors and you must use atsp6\natsh7e0 as initialising string

    Do the following:
    1. Pair your Bluetooth device.
    2. Go to Settings and select Bluetooth.
    3. Next on settings menu go to Bluetooth settings, choose Bluetooth device, select your device and click OK.
    4. Rest of the items are optional.
    5. Select menu (Settings, Vehicle profile, Quit), Select Vehicle Profile and enter your vehicle on the guided menu.
    6. Insert your device in OBD2 socket under the Dash on lower right corner near the hood opener, switch ON the ignition and wait for the device to connect.
    Hope that works. Good Luck.

I'm also not able to connect to the ecu using torque pro. See the snap below. I have 2008 Vitz.

Go in adapter settings of torque pro, scroll down and tell me what version you have installed

You need a Bluetooth or wifi adaptor to connect to your phone (no cables), i suggest android because you can run torque pro (playstore) which in my opinion is one of the best to monitor life sensor data and read/clear fault codes. You need some research to make it work cos if your car is a jdm it is not obd2 .

I can help you to connect torque to ecu

    I want to purchase something
As you recommend Bluetooth then I will buy it. As it available in market too by the name of ELM327 Bluetooth obd2 mini. Will it work or I should find something else for my car?

My adapter is obdlink mx and it works perfectly with my toyota vitz 2009 1KR-FE engine.

Do not go for cheap adapters and avoid the ones that say elm327 Version 2.1 because 98% of them are fake or with a cloned mac address eg 11:22:33:44:55:66:77:88

The protocol is ISO 15765-4 CAN {11bit 500k baud) so make sure it is in the list of supported protocols when buying the adapter
