Default Yaris petrol problem. HELP needed

    Hi guys,
I wanted some help regarding a problem in my yaris. I have a yaris 2002 manual with cng. Its awesome runs great on CNG, excellent performance with good consumption. (Thanks alta for this great car. Got it from your contact here in pindi) Ran outstanding on petrol but recently a problem has developed. When i start it on petrol and when just after starting the rpm is low, the techometer goes to 0 and the car starts to vibrate. The rpm is almost 0 and the car does not respond to the accelerator for about 6-7 seconds. It keeps on vibrating on almost 0 rpm even if i keep the accelerator pressed. Then after about 6-7 seconds, it gets ok. This is currently happening right after starting. Runs fine after that. I thought that maybe petrol and gas are getting mixed so I got it checked by removing all CNG equipment, all CNG pipes, emulator advancer etc, got throttle body serviced but it was still happening. The guy said that he has seen this problem in many vitz and platz and its either the injector or the fuel pump. Any help guys?? Storm and friends!!!

Looks like a case of wrong emulator wiring which gives false signals in place of injectors at wrong time. I mean that even when the car is on petrol the emulator interferes with the ECU which should not happen.

we tested it after disconnecting emulator, advancer and CNG kit. And i got it tested from the place you told me. Al-Mubarik G-10. I must say that they seemed to be really professional people. I got a new emulator and advancer installed as they said that the old ones were locally made and were not so good. They did the complete wiring again. Was happening before the change and still is happening. It does not happen every time after starting. Kabhi kabhi hota hai magar bohat bura hota hai.

    Strange thing

it happens on CNG but on petrol? It can be caused by wrong mixture which can be caused by many factors. O2 sensor is a big suspect.

So what do you recommend.. A complete check-up from toyota??? Waisay the check light (malfunction light) is also on. I suppose that is because CNG is installed.

Check engine light means that some component is not functioning properly. Reason can be CNG installation or anything else. u need to get it checked from Toyota.

waisay i was reading about o2 sensors in another thread. looks like they are pretty cheap. 1000 rs or something like that. Also, my spark plugs are getting black very quickly. 4-5 din ke andar kalay siya. Ye bhi o2 sensor ki waja say ho sakta hai?? and if i need to buy these sensors, kahan say loon. Kisi bhi toyota parts shop say?? i guess you're right about the o2 sensors failing cause my cars been driven about 110,000 km. I think you need to change the sensors around 80,000 km.

O2 sensor has a definite life and it has to be replaced after that. 80K is correct.

Get a Toyota checkup and try your bes that they do not rip you off by telling big stories

Vitz with a check engine light coming on is a favourite prey for them

Sorry for jumping in so late buddy, but as usual you already got most info from the CNG ustaad (Spectra).

As for the O2 sensor you should give alta a call because he hooked me up with one in KHI (can't recall the price), his number is 03332135567. i would not advising it from any other place except KHI as it would be too expensive.

ok thanks man. so you think that the symptoms my car is showing is an indication of o2 sensor failure?? spark plugs getting black, engine stalling on petrol at low rpm. And after i buy it, toyota walon say hi fit karaoon???

And one thing whose clear answer i still dont have. Is the check engine (malfunction) light supposed to go on when cng is installed because then the car thinks that there is some problem. Ya phir cng keeps on running fine without the light appearing.

The problem you describe may not be the O2 sensor, but you will get complete error codes about the check engine light, just go to Toyota dealer and hey will hook up OBD scanner giving you malfunction codes, it can be a malfunctioning Catalytic converter which is causing O2 sensor error code. Anyway, no need to worry that much, might not be a serious prob...
