hey guyz what u think its right??
AOA, @hsnmz, yar aik tu bachay baray shirarti ho gaye hain.bhai u r asking that whether it is right to have a speedo meter in middle of a dash board?
so everyone in the car can see the speed and hit the driver if he tries to go over 100 hehe
actually its very difficult for every one except the driver to have a clear view of the speedometer !
because dirivng seat of McLaren F1 is in the center
Placing of the speedo in the middle is rather innovative. To be honest when I test dove Yaris, I liked the way the interior of the vehicle is designed. Personally I would prefer the speedo to be in the middle because, it's Innovative, It's visible to all the pasengers in the car so that everyone can keep an eye on the speed limit. Moreover looking behind the steering wheel requires more effort and time rather than looking in the centre of the dash. You try it yourself to feel the difference.
now seriously: i totally agree with tanveer.. hez 101% right
by looking at the speedometer in centre of dash board a driver may loose his concentration,
It is placed in middle for cars that are (not all of course) produced for both right and left hand drive. This way there are fewer changes required in the dashboard. Please forgive me if I am wrong.
Its in the center because its neither on the left, nor on the right
because both cars are from mars and aliens like the speedometer at the centre.
The speedometer is placed in the center like most of the latest toyota cars because it has a safety feature that the airbag pops out of the front instead of from the steering wheel; so its safer for the driver. (I think)
It is innovation, and a pretty successful 'marketing gimmick'. All those explanations and benifits come thereafter.
If they place horn or indicator also in middle of dashboard some day being innovative, then???
Its non-sense really, i hope they wont do it in newer models (dhang kay).
It seems AIRBAG factor involve in it.
Well, VITZ has the SPEEDOMETER in its CENTER and only DRIVER can see the SPEEDOMETER if it is DIGITAL and all the passengers can't
Its because the direction of SPEEDOMETER is towards DRIVER's SIDE.
maybe because morris minor from the 60's had the meter in the middle
Wel clearer view lesser distractions. And one heck of a crumble zone with the drop back steering column. U hit this car u have more chances of leser head and chest injuries at huge repairing costs. Btw with reference to 2006 model
@fuhrer... many years ago in my 60s volkwagon, the indicator and horn control was actually in the center of the dash :).
The speedometer position is why i will never buy either of these cars or the Saturn Ion sedan either and that's why it is a flop stateside.
cuz the designer was thinking about the grand dad clock in the centre of his living room while designing the dash... seriously it looks like wall clock to me (specially X-trail's dash)
