    Default Buying a Vitz

    Salam to all,

We have a close family friend who is goin to sell his Vitz soon to get a Honda City.

Right now, i don't have much info about this vitz except that it is automatic transmission.

I was wondering if vitz also come in manual transmission !?

I wanted to know what are the pitfalls of having an automatic transmission in Pakistan, specially while living in an area with no ideal road conditions and away from a big city like Lahore/Islamabad. (i am in Joharabad/Khushab) Sargodha is nearest to me (about 100 km away)

Thanks for any advices. I m gonna see that car today evening, and will be able to tell more about it later.

However, right now, i m just afraid of its auto transmission. Also note that i do not have any prior driving experience.

    Thanks, and Allah Hafiz.

bro though i have not actually driven a vitz but heard from owners that it is a pretty decent ride but i will make a neutral observation which is that auto tranmission is great convenience these days with the traffic mess but it is better that you try to get hold on manual vitz which is available but i heard is expensive than auto if you live in far flung area coz the road side mechanics will neither be able to undertand or fix auto transmission issues.

just my thought...hope others will give good suggestion

BTW: auto transmission cars is very easy to drive coz its actually the car that drives you rather than a manual in which you drive the car

    Thanks for the responses.

I went to see the car, and this is the info:

Vitz 2002 (directly imported from japan; i.e., not via
    dubai)
    milage=65000 km (approx)
    air bags
    CD player
and all the accessories which a Vitz normally have.
Owner had changed the suspension springs with new (imported) ones.

The service history book is in japanese, so i couldn't understand what kind of service it went through there in japan. However, the owner didn't have to get it serviced and he is using it for about one year.

    Automatic CNG kit.

    Lahore number.

    So any new suggestions ???
How much should i offer him ?

well...automatic vitz is a highly recommended car, if driven on petrol. on CNG, i have heard LOADZ of complaints against it. i personally own a platz (sedan version of vitz) and there is no doubt in saying that its better than local city and lianas in drive and comfort. but mine is manual transmission. one of ma friend also has a manual transmission vitz, and he is having loads of fun. no toruble whatsoever. moreover, vitz has a really low road clearance, and if u dont have gud roads over there, dont go for it. i suffer with the same thing in my car. and especially after changing the suspension, more often than not the car ride gets hard, and it will ruin ur shocks down pretty soon.

overall verdict...u being in khushab, buying an Auto vitz on CNG, with Modified suspension....NAH.... i totally m against it

    rest is ur choice...PEACE

About road clearance, it has gotten better after the guy has changed the suspension springs. He also told that he has the original springs with him in case i would like to install them back.

I m still waiting for someone's opinion with a first hand bad experience with Auto+CNG combo. Besides, i m also unable to understand the connection between transmission system and fuel type. I never have owned any car before, so pardon if it is a trivial inquiry.

Also i would like to know what kind of transmission problems could pop up in Auto transmission ? And what can be the worst i can face about it ?

I m continuing the topic in a hope to have sufficient technical opinions before making the final decision against or in favour of it.

    Thanks again.

Dont worry abt the auto or the cng

if you can get it for 5 lacs go for it just get the body and engine checked by someone.

even if you have to pay up to 510k its worth it.

if you can post pics of it would help a lot

Thanks @Alta lot for such a prompt response.

BTW, the current owner got it for 525k about one year ago. And the CNG kit, registration, suspension springs change and battery change are additional costs.

Doesn't seem to me that he would agree on 510k. So perhaps this is not for me. Nevertheless, he still hasn't made a demand. I'll post back after he does so.

About pics, sadly enough i don't have any sort of cam with me right now. I am away from home. But i will try.

BTW, i saw pics of a vitz 2002 (white) for sale here (https://www.pakwheels.com/xt_details.asp?CarID=36439 ) on PW for 570k; and it just resembles it, almost exactly.

    Thanks again.

Well, the guy has changed his mind of selling it without putting any demand. So..... case closed.

However, i have made my mind for Vitz now. So, any reliable importer/dealer of lahore or rawalpindi ? Going to Karachi is nearly impossible for me.

    Thanks.

getting from trusted friends such as babar omar or alta from khi would not be a bad idea i tell you. storm purchased a Surf from alta without even seeing it. if you still wish to check a car for your own mental piece, i am sure Salman1230 would be able to help you as he recently purchased one for himself so would be having a better idea of who's to be trusted and who's not. you might just like to contact him at 03339119993.

    Thanks @VAJIH02.

I tried Salman's cell which didn't respond; so sent an sms to him.
Also sent a mail to @Alta, without a response till now.
But @babaromar and @Alta both are Kchi based.
Wish to find someone from Isb or Lahore.

Anyway, thanks for all the help.
