    Default Vitz 05 too heavy on Petrol...Need Help

    Recently bought a vitz-05 doesn't have CNG nor do I have budget to buy one. The car is doing 10kmpl with AC in city. Checked by toyota motors visually and he says all is ok...although it was before I found out its fuel consumption....changed oil, oil filter and air filter about two days back. Condition of plugs and fuel filter not known...need urgent help. Please don't divert me to Vitz topic as it has some 160 pages and can'y go through all.

    Dear Naweed if your expecting your vits to do 20 Kmpl please forget that it might do 14KMPL with AC get the alignment checked and done if needed tyre pressure should be 30 in all tyres try to turn of engine in traffic jams and on signals as well. try not to drive it more then 80Km/hour speed and check the plugs if they are a lil black then get your car tuned and if they are in like light pink in color then no need for tuning. Try these points inshallah will get good result

    @Naweed
    I drive Vitz 2006
    Getting 14km/L, all city driving. Initially I got about 10/L. Here is what I did;
    Air pressure 40PSI in all wheels.
    New Japanese Air filter.
    Clean up of spark plugs.
    Change oil (Should be good quality)

    Once winter comes, it could improve a bit as u shut off AC. These small vehicles consume too much fuel with AC. Even now use AC sparingly.
    Furthermore, next oil change I will go for Synthetic Oil, Mobil 1 or Caltex or ZIC Synthetic ZIC. Furthermore I am trying to find out K&N Oil based Air filter (Made in USA, which should improve mileage a bit too due to better and clean air intake.
    Targeting about 16/L.

    Ive noticed a change in average in my City after using Zic A+ 0w/30.

    Getting 14-15km/l with a/c.

    10km/l is too low. Get your throttle body cleaned, plugs and filters changed ... put in Zic A+ 0w/30 ... and keep a LIGHT foot on the pedal.

    No need to change spark plugs in Vitz, just clean them. They r irridium tipped, and even in our conditions could last upto 75000km. Copper tipped spark plugs u have to change after 20000km.

    Vitz recommended air pressure is 32PSI city driving.
    35 PSI Free way or motorway. 5-6 PSI increase does not make much difference. The ride could be a bit bumpy. Choice is yrs; Bumpy ride or bumpy wallet. If road were a little better in PK, I would have used 45 PSI.

    I think 40 PSI is way too much for such tires (less than 16")

    Should be 32 at MAX...but 28-30 is typical.

    Toyota recommended air pressure:
    P175/65R14------32PSI
    P185/60R15------32PSI

    For sustained high speeds add 3PSI in all tires

    Why is CNG'ing a car always the solution to a problem??..we're simply bypassing the root cause and on top adding CNG to it...

    @K2

    what kind of braking do you get with 40psi tyre pressure?..I hope you dont end up losing more for short term gains

    k2@vitz
    I think you are stretching you tires a bit too much. I mean 35 psi would have been alrite, but 40 psi means you are causing too much stress on the tires, plus as the tire gets warmer the gas will expand and put more pressure on it as well. Furthermore, extra pressure in tires altough reduces friction (hence greater economy) but it cause tires to wear out quickly. So, anyway your walLet will be empty anyway.

    alright dude so u have a heavy car, i drive the 06 n well a 1KRFE engine is supposed to give u 16km/l in city and 20km/l on long but thats on japanese roads with the fuel that they use there, unfortunately the fuel that is sold here as hi-octane, im not even sure that THAT wud match the fuel grade they maintain in japan coz my car wud always keep knocking even with the best fuel avaiable.

    ive therefore converted to CNG and the car is running fine, except that on petrol its missing at idle rpm,the simple solution to that is reset the computer of the car, take the -ve terminal of the battery off and wait for abt 3 to 4 mins, reconnect -ve terminal of the battery and make sure before doing this the car was converted to petrol and switched off. Then start it and run it on petrol, it will run fine till u change it on cng again.

    If u wana get best from ur car on petrol then take the following steps

    1)Full throttle body cleaning with proper fluid.
    2)Use original air filter, comes around 900 rs
    3)Use full synthetic oil, mobile 1 or ZIC A+
    Change ur oil filter when half running of the oil is done, i.e if u put mobil1, it will give u abt 10000km but thats if u change the oil filter at 5000 km, otherwise it will only give u abt 7000 km total, this is because of dusty conditions in pakistan.
    4)Get brand new spark plugs for ur car they will cost 900 to 1100 each so abt 3300 for a set of 3. BUT REMEMBER, now this is THE MOST important thing abt these new plugs, the plugs used in this car are the longer ones, this is a newer type and they are irridium tipped, IF THE GAP of these plugs is even changed by a 0.01mm, consider them ruined, our CNG tuners usually tap them to make the gap smaller, well my friend that works in older cars, on these engines like corolla X and vitz if the plug gap is changed the car will vibrate like mad on idle rpm and whenever car is in P or whenever a brake is applied and car is abt to come to a stop. THE GAP ON THSE PLUGS CANNOT BE DISTURBBED. Just keep em clean and thats it.
    5) Now the fuel filter, whenever u wana get it changed, remember, just the filter part which costs abt 4000, changing only that will not help coz the filter in this model is contained in the whole pump and filter assembly. change that whole assembly along with the metal part which is the pump, THAT WHOLE costs abt 14000 rs, only then u will notice a change in the performance.
    6) If ur car has stock tyres then ur consumption will improve but if u have alloys and fat tyres, something like 195s, that wud reduce ur average so keep thinner tyres with a better tread design for control.

    no sir i dont agree that gari mar jati hay because my car is on cng and anyone is most welcome to come and drive it, difference in pick on petrol and cng is not more then 10%, but then i drive to get from one place to another and not to break micheal shumachers records. THe car costs me 2 rs a km with ac local and 1.5 rs a km with ac on long, without ac it is 1.5 rs a km local and abt 1.3 rs a km on long.

    If good wiring is done and all settings done right, any car will perform good on cng, provided u take regular and RIGHT care of ur car. cheers!
