Why would you want to shoehorn a different gearbox in???

Yes anything in Pakistan is possible but in general this kind of attitude has contributed a lot towards the screwed up state of affairs we see all around us.

First off there is this urban legend, a myth spread by our sooper dooper mechanic bhais that Auto gears are faulty, impractical, irrepairable and what not. So if youve been told such fairy tales please dont believe them. Your original 'box may very well be useable.

If you still want to go for a manual 'box, I strongly suggest you go for an original Vitz unit. It might very well be a bolt on fit.

    Best of luck.

I Don't Think Its A Bolt-On......Since Vitz Got SZ Series Engine Where As Xli Uses NZ Series....So Difference In Bell Housing.......Have to Make Adopter Plate........But Better Get Manual Tranny For VITZ If You Need So...!!

hmm i think its entirely possible but there will be faults...as they both arent the same engine....But just wondering why would you want to go for such a thing ?
If you want preformance why not go for the WHOLE engine with gear box swap ? or maybe a faster reasonable engine ?

Is an XLi's or a Vitz's engine running on an OBD II system? If so, then you'd have to re-map the ECU when you stick the gearbox in because it'll be looking for an auto box, when you've got a manual. It may go into limp mode for no reason since it isn't detecting a component, and you wouldn't be able to fix the problem unless you get that problem code deleted altogether.

Better would be to keep it the way it is, or, just sell it and buy some other manual 1

    hahaha. Nahi yaar!

I honestly have no idea- check and see what engines can be accommodated by the Vitz's chassis. Why go for an XLi when "anything is possible in Pakistan"?
