# Thread: CNG on vitz worth it?

1. ## CNG on vitz worth it?

i have a few questions id like answered before i decide whether to have a vitz with or without cng:

1. is it feasible and worth it? will it ultimately be cheaper using the car on petrol for 5 years rather than having a cng kit installed( say if i use the car on a daily basis, running about 25-30km) ?

2. how much would a suitable cng kit for vitz cost including the installation charges?

2. i think the petrol prices are going to go down a bit.
if they do so then there is no need of converting ur car to CNG

3. 1. Depends.. How much you can spend on petrol and plus the fuel prices keep on changing. Its 57 today..can also get 80+ tomorrow. I also travel abt 25-30kms daily inside the city and it costs me 100rs on Cng. My Vitz on average gives 120km inside city for CNG worth Rs 320 (7Kgs of gas).

Average on petrol is abt 12+km usually.

2. Abt 35-40k.

4. 320/60=5.33

5.33*12=64

64 on petrol and 120 km on cng.

thanks man.. oh and you havent experienced any problems with it have you?

5. Q: CNG on vitz worth it?

A: Yes, if you cant find petrol at least you can stop at cng pump

6. LOL. i go to pump and ask,, do you have hioctane?, guy says no but we have diesel. i said ok i 'll ask my mech to swap a 2c diesel engine in car tomorrow. and fix a 4afe in trunk and cng it.

bhai jan aap na ya kya science mari hai calculation ma???

8. rawfay spends 320 on cng, which gives him 120km

320 divided by price of one litre of petrol (60)= no of litres of petrol for rs. 320 (5.33)

litres of petrol* mileage per litre= total mileage on petrol for 320rupees (64km)

so for 320rupees, a vitz running on petrol will run for 64km, on cng it will go 120km.

9. well sum days ago meh n ma frnd chek it for civic and calculated RS/KM for both CNG and PETROL.
both were nearly the same.
^o)

10. @levin
even cng is not available nowadays

11. so having the choice is worth it. i get it now levin :p

I'll still advise you to use it on petrol if you're gonna use it as a secondary car and not a daily runner. I'm a student and i pay for the fuel from my pocket money so cng works for me.

13. brother im a student and ill be paying for the fuel from my own pocket money too.. it'l be my daily runner! :p

14. Guys, i dunno about you but i'm not in the favor of CNG, although i have CNG but its not worth it.

Since your buying a car that is used and not a brand new one i dont think calculating costs over a period of 5 years is valid. you can calculate it to over 1 year or 2 years max, here's the math:

CNG cost:35000 / 24months : 1458 Rs.
CNG average(on current rate) : 3.5/km on cng=
30km daily=30*30=900*3.5= 3150 Rs.monthly or lets say 3500Rs + 1500= Rs.5000/month

Petrol=5.3*900= Rs.4700 avg=5000Rs/month

Ps: i havent' included the extra maintenance/checkup/tuneups on vehicles with CNG that goes above Rs.5000

Therefore, driving you car on petrol would be the same amount as CNG but would keep your car happy and increase your engine life plus your driving experience

15. CNG(N)(N)(N)

16. I don't really know about vitz. but i made the fatal mistake of fitting my cl9 with cng about 4 months ago when petrol was 80+ rs. i travel around 80-100 km/day. it was bearable with petrol being 55 or smthng. bt 86 was just too much. so enter cng....it's like a dream at first. i literally saved more than 500 rs per day. now here's the picture three months later.
my suspension's busted
the check engine light is always on for some reason.
my oil changes have doubled
i ve had to get my engine fully tuned twice
and it has also F***d up my car computer.
Moral: plz plz plz DONOT fit your car with cng. at the end of the day you would end up spending more than what you would save.......

17. dude before installing cng in a Vitz plus, do tell us that is it a Auto ? if its Auto then your car will run like a turtle on Naswaar

18. there is no trouble on vitz on cng but now-a-days both costs approximately same:
cng gives 125 km per rs 350=2.8+everytime i start my car it takes some petrol to start let it be rs.5 per start and in 120kms if i start my car for 15 times it takes 15*5=75
so the total cost of one tank becomes 75+350=425 and it gives 125 kms
so the cost per km becomes 425/125=3.4
and if i use petrol then 57/15=3.8
and if petrol becomes 50 per liter then there remains no difference, cng was cheaper 3-4 months back but putting cng kit now-a-dys is not recommended but if petrol price rises and cng price remins sme then it is recommended.

19. Nice Mafzaltareen,

20. well i hope u dnt hav to pay the money frm cng kit frm ur pocket money... if so,do get it cng-ed.bcuz it wud save u a lil money everyday nd alot of money in 5yrs.my prediction is that petrol is never gonna b cheaper then cng,if our govt. ever tries to do so,cng body wub on making alot of noise.

cng is now recommended for those ppl who drive their cars alot,or they hav to keep it fo years.the average of my car per day comes out to b 100-110km per day.so i badly need cng.the cng kit of my car has paid its amount in saving which i made by switching frm petrol.hav done 65,000kms on cng now.
so if u drive alot or ur keeping ur car for long, cng is recommended.
