Synthetic Oil is best but it is also a lot more expensive. Synthetic oil is helpful ONLY if you do a lot of hard driving such as pushing ur car hard to the redline on regular basis.

In my opinion you would be perfectly fine with regular mineral oils. You would be fine if you go for an engine oil with API Rating of SL ( SM is best). Do not go for APIL rating of API SG (more information on API ratings can be obtained from www.upmpg.com/motor_oil_rate_gas.htm).

As for viscosity ( such as 10w-40, 20w-50) STICK to the manufacturer reccomendations mentioned in the owners manual.

    @ ati41

Thanks, for the info. Could you please help me understand, the manual says 5w30 is only recommended for very low tempratures, and since its usually 10-15Degrees in khi, i would be better off with a rating of 10W, but how far does the 30 go? i mean should i go for 10W30 or 10W40, cos it gets hot here in feb/march? magnetic, synthetic? which one or which company?

Open the following site. You will get all information about engine oils.

    http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html

According to our conditions at this time use 5W40. Use either Zic XQ or Mobil 1 (expensive but the best). Will increase FE a bit to compensate the expense. Use only genuine Toyota filter; do not compromise for cheaper craps.

Magnetic is not a Oil Type !!

    Other than that

Use the above link and this:

Mineral Oil (Normal)=4 - 5000 Km (max mileage per change)
Semi Synthetic Oil (Normal)=7 - 8000 Km (max mileage per change)
Synthetic Oil (Normal)=9 - 10000 Km (max mileage per change)

    Ok guys, one more thing:

So magnetic is not a type, so is magnetic(Castrol,Havoline(deposit shield) just normal mineral oils, are they any good as compared to non magnetic? or is it just the marketing tactic?

About Synthetic, since i think i have normal oil, i just have to put synthetic, or flush the oil first with my new synthetic oil, or use something else for flushing? pls guide
