Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

Guys, the 1962 was the last yr of the proper Beetle, or what purists consider REAL Beetles. WHy? Because these cars had better quality metal, more magnesium alloy in the engine block, better attention to detail, ad so on. Its was also the last year for the small Wolfsburg monogram on the bonnet, just above the handle, as well as the glass lenses in the rear lights. Yep, these cars are worth picking up pronto. Store them till you have the time and money to fix 'em, but dont miss them!!

    @ all

Updates. Went today to the scrapyard.....around 40 degree killer heat but well....Bug in distress!!!!

Was both happy and disappointed when I saw the bug on death row. It turned out to be a 64 year model and not a 62.

Most of the removable goodies had been plucked off by someone, a VW mech I believe as neatly missing were all trim, headlights, tail lights, bumpers etc etc.

Body was fairly good but it did need work. Engine did look like newly rebuilt.

Anyway....since no Handsome Prince Charming has expressed interest here I did not negotiate, did not meet the concerned scrapper too.

    @ Romano

Thanks for the lesson in VW Beetle Pedigree here......I was hoping to get a better response from the general readers......a bit disappointed to tell you the truth.

    @ clubshaker

Thanks for the contribution here. It might be of interest to you that VWs still have a good market in the UK. Above average ones easily go for more £££s than nineties Merc or BMW.

If you think you in love, be sure you are and then find one. A very active Vintage VW following in the UK awaits to embrace you.

    Best regards.

Day before yesterday I was out 'VW hunting' with a friend of a friend....He wants to purchase a good bug asap.

Saw a one owner since 1976, 1969 bug and a 1971 1302 Super, both interesting options. The Super needs a bit of TLC to get back on the road. No pics sorry...had been picked up from work to check the bugs out.

Good work!! Where did you get the rebuild from?? Any 'work in progress' pics to share?

Why would you be selling this car? What are you expecting for it btw??

    Good luck.

@ Asad: Thanks for appreciating the effort...
I didnt get it rebuilt .. my luck that i got the car almost as it is...but stilll Sajan (baloch Colony) did put his hand in the car
Just added brand new tyres ... got the wheel cups chromoed.. cleaned up the interior... renewed the wiring.. touched up few other things as advised by Sajan.
    And thats it
Wel no serious reason to sell the ca just had to get a new car and I know i wont be able to affford on vintage and one 2008. So its better to respect the vintage and give it to someone who will keep it as it should be

    @ Abbas:

yeah right my creative self as if I havent seen your car ... Btw thanks

If the car drifts to the left if U let the steering wheel free while driving then get the alignment checked....

Otherwise that I think is supposed to happen as these cars dont come with ABS or even disk brakes...

The experts might be able to help U better...

if it goes left on regular driving it could b tire pressure or allignment
if its on braking that means left brakes are grabbing more than the right ones...get em adjusted...personally mine does it too and i know its the brakes..but never really bothered with that...keep putting it off cuz i dont get time

    Hunny

You already have some good guidance from rebel.

    A sensible plan is:

    ---Check tyre pressures.

---Get the brakes adjusted. These are drums and need regular adjustment.

---If you have not done this after purchasing the car, plan out a brake service soon. Or at least collect the parts needed. A 'how to' write up is available on request! 8-|

---Get the alignment checked from a reputable shop.

---Pray that you dont have suspension issues. You CAN however get everything fixed should anything need fixing.

    Good luck!
