Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

oh there's a pic of the rims's i sort of had made ...umm took about 2 hrs of preping, grinding, buffing putining (or what ever it's called), buffing sanding scrubbing...(there was more)...oh and finally spayed then at home last night ...matt black will go for red pin stripes on them eventually just to finish it of.

Asad bro, looked into the exhaust did find a guy who has the press to do the tight U bends, this engine needs to come out soon enough...Uhh sounds amazing, beefy with bassy undertones, yet still has the tinge of something beetle

@ Rebel. It wasnt a model kit. It was actually a toy that caught my eye when I saw it lying in a shop's window. Surprisingly, it had plenty of detail. What I did was, I took off all the silly lights and a 5th wheel that was underneath the car. Made a new floor for it and lowered it to the ground. And as you can see I painted it black and silver with high gloss. (It was white originally) It turned out quite good. And no It doesnt have an engine. I wish it did.

    @ Devilspassion

Please let me know when you are free from the Eid festivities and get time to get the auto running. Will visit you with the friend then.

    @ au

Great link, thanks. There is a whole load of VW stuff on youtube, all a pleasure to watch. Just search for more VW old adverts and one will see the genius behind their advertising mottos.

    @ Owais yunus

    Thats sweeeet!! Nice lil toy!

    @ rebel

Great to know about the fuel reserve tap. Will wait for the pics.

    Kaaaaayyy Peeeee!!!!

Aha! you are out of hiding! I wish you post here regularly and grace the pages with pics of your bug. It looks red hot!

The paint scheme has come out good though I think Romano would not be too happy to see the original/like-original paint go. I may be with him, you never know

The custom made wheels resemble 'centreline' alloys. I think we went over this before when you were in Karachi. Two things to be careful about. One, is the welding strong enough?? Two, any issues with balancing the wheel?? Im sure you have addressed both issues by now.

Good to know the exhausting exhaust story! May I see detailed pics, if any (or text!) of the process. I am quite double minded but just may decide to fit something like this to my white 68. Convince me! Would like to have a quiet note tho.

How are things at your end??? Hope to talk to you soon.

    Best wishes and regards.
