Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

The work on that car started in/around 2002. I was a partialy rebuilt in 2003. It was completed after I left so that makes it 2004. I remember it was standing for a long time for final paint approval because Amjad Sb had bought the Sierra 1500 and was "busy" enjoying the truck.

Its sad but I never got to see the finished product.

@funkycapricon ....... bro I'm not sure. I left before they decided on the final color. I think he was going to use wire wheels on it but even that wasn't decided upon while I was there. A lot was under consideration at the time.

It should be an extraordinary stuff though.

I think we should meet up to share notes on our newly acquired bugs.

indeed, we found that out later (we were not sure which brakes romano had on his car since it was a conversion).

    @all
I've got the pads lying in my car if you want them for your golf, cost 2000rs.

sir, either old age has had it's sordid way with me or i'm sure work started in early 2000 on that heb project since the same guy who built my 68 speedster was building this car (rustum ustaad) and when i got delivery of my car (in early 2000) he was also working on the heb (have pics somewhere). either way, it's on the roads now, the project is more or less finished now and overall i have to admit it's a great job (i'm a huge fan of amjad saabs cars), will try and snap up asome pics of it soon when i go to khalids workshop.

Pictures would work great. We need a post just for that car and what it represents - along with a Profile of the owner! (Y he built it, what other cars he have etc).

WOW ...... this is a nice one as well. Love the white walls.

A Blaupunkt with Channel Switch would be a nice addition. Is this a current work in progress? Some spots on it look like they need paint.

    Thanks for the pictures.

Last I heard, it was owned by Mr. Muqeem's son Shakil in Islamabad.

    Hi all,

Just a quick note for now....

There is a 1970 Beetle in the clutches of a scrapper. Its due to be hacked up but the date has been extended till tomorrow at my request. Its said to be in pretty decent running shape. I hope all things like battery etc are present. I havent actually seen the car but when the guy says I can buy it off him, its usually something with potential.

Have negotiated over the phone and the last price is 34k rupees. Papers are clean (new computerised book type) but taxes fall short till 2003 if I remember correctly. Not a problem to sort out.

Does anyone want to take this car???? it can be a good daily beater as it is or a new owner might drive it for sometime before going for a full resto , if he wants to. Please note you MAY have to sort out a few odds n ends to make it a reliable runner.

If anyone is REALLY interested, please let me know today only. Tomorrow morning its heaven or hell for the poor bug.

You may contact me on my cell 0345-2690503. Please SMS me first to check if Im free and give your PW ID too. Please dont expect me to call back to people leaving missed calls or those who want to exchange a barrage of SMS.

    @ MSM and Naveed.

Id never be bugged. Im tied up a bit but we might be able to sort out a meeting, maybe at my workplace, with prayers I dont get bogged down with the workload.

    Best regards,
If there are no Beetles in heaven, Im not going!!!
