Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

    @ asad

Yes I have bought it .... just have to make payment.

    @ Storm

Plan is simple . .. . complete restoration denting painting and mechanicals making it into a pleasure drive.

But will start work on it around December after rains are over plus I have a bit of travelling to do around November.

Naveed, a big congrats on buying the 74! It looks like a nice car which would be easy to rebuild. Somehow I did not see much enthusiasm in your initial post so thought it was a spotting!! Why do I not feel you Disco dancing???

Now I want to see both your cars in person. Please post many more pics of the 74.

Why am I not Disco Dancing.... well I am really glad but still want an early 60's model. I have one in sight but the owner is nowhere near to selling it although I also have a lot of Sentimental value attached to it.

Fedd somehow came up with a model bug made out of God-knows-what-material. What is it fedd?? Care to share?

Its a self-made Beetle, material is Standard Packaging Foam. .

Volkswagen Club of Pakistan VWCOP -973134

Made it myself in my studio while chit-chating with friends. Filed the foam to give it a Beetle shape, them pasted Crepe Paper of the desired colour.

    @ Naveed

It was nice to talk to you on the phone a short while ago. Hope you finalise the deal on the 74 soon.

Early 60s bugs are gettign hard to find. People who have kept them as cherished examples would not be willing to sell. Most seen for sale do need some/a lot of work but are worth rescuing.

    @ Fedd

Aha!! So this was made using styrofoam (expanded polystyrene)!! Good. Btw I am assuming now taht you are an artist or sculptor....am I close????

    Interesting.....

My Beetle has been running quite fine after the new 1500cc engine. Now it definately needs its interior and exterior to be worked upon, sadly I don't get enough time therefore the project is being delayed and delayed. Currently I'm focusing on mechanical side rather than just looks, next step is to get a brand new battery, starter motor, air-filter, curburettor (looking for a good one), and tyres etc.

Last month, I did some D.I.Ys which I love doing it, painters can't give the satisfactory results so whenever I get time, I like to get my hands dirty.

Here are some snapshot of my last D.I.Y. Cleaning and Re-painting the Fuel Tank
