    Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

    Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

    @ Kashif

    If u want to restore that particular car then u will have to consider a few things:

    • Howsolid the shell is. If its rusted than whats the use. You are practically collecting the whole car and if the shell aint good then better buy a new car and use whatever parts are use ful in this shell on the new car.
    • Are all the taxes paid and documentation of the car complete.
    A car for the people, an affordable Volkswagen, would bring great joy to the masses and the problems of building such a car must be faced with courage.

    I can get the car completed and ready if you take it out from his workshop.

    thank you all for your support. I just don't wanna bully things out.

    @naveedrizvi
    body parts have been completely (door, fender, trunk, hood) dented and fixed. Floor panes are missing and replacement engine is being rebulit somewhere god knows.

    I don't wanna part with this bettle and have big plans. Lets pray things come out as planned.

    this coming weekend i've vowed to get the thing up and running. after speakign to Kp i've decided to hang on to the rims for now but we can't decide what size tyres to go for. obviously the sane choice woudl be to go for "normal" sized ones with a mental offroad pattern,... but we are so limited when it comes to choices in ISB/RWP.

    most importantly i have to run a new fuel line, get the alighnment sorted out and get the rear tail light housings coppied from KPs bus (as the thing uses bus lights)

    I found a lovely 1303 for sale on PW, price is reasonable considering how original she is:

    Default Help! Save this 1963 Bug from death row - 2 months left! (ISB)

    Dear All,

    A short while back, on a tip off, I paid a visit to the Islamabad Administration's secret abandoned car pool lot ('nazaarat') located at Tarlai, just after Rawal Town on Rawal Road. Very well hidden from view.

    There lies this ugly but certainly restorable 63 Deluxe Bug. The car is now destined for public auction and/or scrapping in June, amongst several other classics. Other classics include the famous Aabpara Police Station 67 Cadillac Fleetwood (awful), a 72 Merc 220D (reasonable), a blue 70 Bug (rough/accidented, suitable for spares), a white 70-71 1300 Bug (reasonable condition), a 75-76 VW Polo MKI (very rare find) and an early 60s MKI Ford Cortina. See what else you can rummage from in there - also early Jap classics, including a 2-dr Mazda.

    Anyway, will plan a trip back a bit later on.

    As I now have my hands full with 1, possibly 2 VWs (details coming soon - stay seated!), plus limited space, I might not be in a position to take this 63.

    As far as I can see, it's pretty complete, average bodywork (not too bad) has an engine and is a roller. More details on request - please someone save this Bug,. Do not let it escape into the hands of the metal crew and the auction mafia!! It'll be cheap.

    As it'll be a public auction, you'll only get a bill of sale. Car is not involved in any criminal case (s. 550 CrPC car - abandoned).

    Aleem

    some new rubber parts have arrived in ISB. i picked up a set of oil cooler seals and master cyl grommets yesterday. the parts aren't cheap but they are german (highest quality) and are essential for anyone serious about rebuilding their car correctly.

    @Specialists Sameer/Asad/Romano.

    Recently my Beetle has started having some problem in starting, it rotates a bit reluctantly, seems like it stucks and starts after a couple of tries.

    Now, the battery is new and giving proper current, all connections have been checked for any damage etc, engine timing is set to the best (even if the timing is out, at least it should crank). I used the direct method to check if the ignition switch is the culprit, but no, same reluctant startup. Now what I believe is there might be some problem with the starter motor or any of its part. I want your opinion before going to the mechanic. And if in your opinion, the starter motor has an issue, than is it available brand new in local market, if yes then which particular one? Your prompt reply would be a great help for me guys.
