    Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

    Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

    Default My 1965 Patina Travels 731 Km from Islamabad to Multan in Exchange of a "Oil Change"

    After disappointment of the 1963 deal of @hassanazeem ( Story at: https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/bod...rts-required-2 ), at last something to cheer me up; My 1965 1200cc Stock "Patina" travels 731 Kms of a long errand from Islamabad to Multan only in exchange of an "Oil Change" without a breather.

    What a treat it was to drive her at over 100kmph on motorway and across country!

    I want to keep it "as is". As you can see its just the surface rust as the car has been parked away in the open for a long period of time without receiving any "cleaning cloth" and in the wet/freezing weathers of Islamabad which also happen to offer the hottest of the days with bright sunshine.

    Would clear the surface rust, treat for further rusting, put things in order after a thorough cleaning and would match up the panels with the rest of the patina of the car and would preserve it as is, as it all adds to the character of the car.

    Any other ideas on how to preserve the true character of the "Patina" are welcome.

    At this stage, I would very much want to thank a lot of selfless friends who helped me with so many things pertaining to Locating/Acquiring/Putting Together/Preserving/Keep Running my VWs over the years;

    Foremost would be @shahzebulhaq who found this 1965 for me and made it possible for me to acquire it. To @nmshaikh & @AsadIshaque who have been constant reason to make my VWs to keep healthy on Road and with their advices which actually made my mind and helped me find a way to preserve this 1965 "as is". @mohsinikram for getting the papers in order. @Romano & @Storm for words of wisdom and some practical help.

    And last but not the least; @Zeeshan Asghar (Shani - 0300 580 7044) & his father Old School VW Mechanic @Ustaad Asghar at Babu Mohallah RWP, who is a gem and mostly have existed un-noticed over all these years and I am sure most of you would not be familiar with these names but they are who keep my VWs in great shape constantly, to make it possible for my VWs to travel to and forth between Islamabad & Multan every now and then.

    hi,
    nice to know that you have got another one in good shape, the engine seems perfect and all needed is some touching to the body. Congrats once more.

    @ZEE82

    Thanks. Yep the car needs some body touching, you are right. And this once, one thing that I have decided for sure is that I am not going with Babar (The Veteran VW Panel Beater/ISD) reasons for this decision have come from experience of the abandoned 1963 deal. Instead I am going with either @nmshaikh's suggestion and going with Arshad or upon @shahzebulhaq's suggestion going with Ali Akhtar.

    KG VERT deal reverted back as the buyer backed out as communicated by the Seller @profound6.

    Car is again up for sale for a Revised Price of 850,000/- instead of Original Demand of Rs. 950,000/-

    Here is another chance for KEEPERS to acquire the rarity.

    @Reezvan

    I absolutely love that 65 of yours!!! THAT is close to the ideal VW condition for me...all complete, all original and just a bit tatty! Can't remake that, no matter how good the restoration is. Should try and keep it as is, agreed.

    BTW...did you buy the car from ISB? There's a crazy homeopathic doctor who has pretty much exactly the same car in Abpara/G-6 (totally original 65), same pearl white/red leatherette combo but Karachi no. and lost docs.

    I was THIS close to buying that...cash on table...but old man wanted too much for it. Ask Shahzeb for the story, he was there.

    @Storm Agreed...love the Ghia 'vert but a bit too much in the rupee department for one that's not perfect. Amazing nonetheless here in PK.

    I had given @profound6 your email as I thought you might be interested. I wonder if he touched you for its sales.

    @Aleem1

    Bingo! Same car, documents are being sorted out (were not when I drove it to Multan) thanks to some help from KHI volks folks and friends in my circle.

    About price being higher, I agree but how often does one get to find a 1965 this original? I didn't mind paying some extra thousands especially when I knew I can get the papers right and the car was RIGHT.

    B/w I will be waiting on your mail regarding what we had discussed through mails, reezvaan@hotmail.com remember?
