    Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

    Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

    Top on my list of cowboys is IRFAN; has a shop in the row near the abpara fire brigade station. mega useless. likewise for another so called expert named jahangir. made a MESS of nasir shaikhs cabrio. KP had a less than happy result from the Chevy workshop in I9, and the list goes on. wish i could say I have found a good painter, but with the exception of Yazdani motors in karachi, nothing!

    @romano

    I have been told by @nmshaikh that this guy IRFAN is a good worksman when it comes to VW paint jobs, pity he is into desultory and have issues with money and handling (needs consistent surpervision and to be carefully handled about money, as has the reputation of disappearing when handed over material somes for number of days, so giving small amounts as advances should do).

    On another note: did you visit my DIY thread on 1965? If not, here:

    So do I hear about that gambling stuff. Its a real pity that we dont really have found someone with even less than perfect skills for paint jobs on our VWs. I wonder where did Mouqeem Sb./Shakeel get their bug painted from. Its a nice finish, what say you?

    On another note: What about the pictures from yesterday's meet? I couldn't count more than 09 bugs on the mini car show from lake view park (wont even count that Black Mess of a BUG, a BUG), it was a disappointing low turn out (was it?). Who is taking care of the pics from the VWCOP forum?

    A car for the people, an affordable Volkswagen, would bring great joy to the masses and the problems of building such a car must be faced with courage.

    Sorry guys if the pics are very random. . . We had people constantly checking out our rides and it was very difficult to get pictures around them =P

    Its safe to say, we were the most popular in that show, half the credit could go to Nadir's beast =P

    Could you please direct towards any posts relevant to the Orange bug if there are any. If there are none then I would be thankful if you or anyone else could shed some light on the beats.

    Nice Show & nice pics @funkycapricorn.

    Even though the pics are random but at least they are VWCOP centric. And I believe everyone of us here knows how difficult can it be to take exclusive pictures on a car show here in Pakistan.

    I visited the Mini Car Show Pictures' dedicated thread only yesterday and was disappointed to see that there were random pics on VWCOP Section but no one really bothered to take some pics which could highlight the VWCOP exclusively, even left a post asking people about posting the same (even though Nadir's Beast made to the most of the pictures captured by different cameraman).

    Anyway, its good to know that VWCOP was the centre of attention at the show and half of the credit goes to Nadir's Dragster, as you putted. I believe its a nice modified car and people would definitely be attracted to its shape and innovative design as compared to a Stock Restoration beauty such as your own or for that matter, Mouqeem Sb.'s 1960.

    But how many of purists, say such as @romano would be attracted to a modified VW instead of a Purity from 1960s?

    On another note; who owns this 1965 with white walls and Registration plate - 3295?

    Here is what it seems to be a nice project bug in a long time, for sale here on PW;

    Anyone who is looking to start off a VW Project and needs a nice solid car to start off with the project, should grab it immediately (not to mention after thoroughly inspecting the car in person for rust etc. which KHI cars are normally prone to & negotiating the price a lil, if at all possible):

    If one has to be a Bug Enthusiast, I suggest be a Purist because there is nothing to love about bug if its not pure.

    People go for bugs coz they provide probably the best baseline car for hotrod/ratrod looks but fact of the matter is that there is no beauty that can match a Stock Bug.
