Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

So i followed up on the link posted here by Reezvaan....here is the reply i received regarding the kdf wagen body shell...

The price of the body ex Works is from 290 000 Kc - cca 11 850 Euro - as on photo A, to 470 000 Kc - cca 19 200 Euro for the complete and fully outfitted body ready to install (as per photo B).
We can negotiate and accept the degree of finish and outfitting individually, according to each client's wish or budget.
For example, our all-steel Schwimmwagen body replica can be had as a bare body - without any bolt-on bits, but with engine cover) is Euro 24500 , or in the many possible stages of outfitting in-between, -up to fully outfitted, spray-painted body with folding roof and windows, seats with upholstery, with all electricals and wiring harness, ready to add the battery and to drop the body for the client's rolling chassis...Price is Euro 34600

In short, if you have a rolling chassis and Rs. 4.30MM roughly to pay them for a complete ready to fit body for Schwimmwagen, you could possibly drive out your VW to Czech Republic and bring back a totally different car but with same chassis/engine number and be a proud owner of one and only Schwimmwagen in Sub-continent.

    Pretty convenient, isn't it?

Oh and I forgot to add: then to leave it as an inheretance to your next generation who would pretty conveniently sell it to money monger kabaris for few thousands in another 30yrs.

Time, money and a VW, all wasted. BTW the owner was demanding 1,50,000.

Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Check for availability with @nmshaikh. And you might want to be quick because these run short pretty quickly.

I am sure there is a reason that I can explain. I believe there were two qualities available. The cheaper ones would have been all out by now and the price he quoted now would be from the costlier ones.

@nmshaikh does this as a hobby and its NOT his business so if I were you I wouldn't doubt that there was a valid reason for a different price for the same item.

I don't know who quoted you the 2000 to 2500 price. $60 was always the price.

The breakdown of the $60 was $30 for the seal bought at WCM. add $18 shipping to Canada. Add $4. (13% HST) The landed cost of the seal in Canada is $52. The seal did not mysteriously fly to Pakistan for free. PIA charges $125 for a (upto) 28 kg box. (The seal weighs 2 kilos btw.) I have to divide the cost on any parts that are contained in the box. I don't plan on retiring on the "fortune" that i make selling VW parts any time in the future. I suggest you make your own arrangements to get the parts for your project. Like I said $60 WAS the price.I am sold out!

@Reezvaan...There is no cheaper quality. I bought just one quality..the best. German wherever possible, Made in the US WCM seals, boots and the like.

Oh thanks for the explanation, I was under the impression that there were German OEM ones and WCM ones. I, however, wouldn't know the price on Pan to Body Seal as I got one in replacement to one that I had given to @mohsinikram from my stash for Split Window, to which he then arranged replacement from you and thus he paid.

I believe @bravo122 has assumed the price was 2000-2500 and no one has told him so, after reading @Aleem1's post here on this very thread, where he offered to sell the Brazilian Pan to Body Seal for Rs. 2000 which I had picked up from him long ago with Blaupunkt Santos Radio when you were in Canada and was later passed onto @mohsinikram for Split Window.
