Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

Since we don't fancy our cars being called 'foxy', check this out: List of names for the Volkswagen Type 1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
But the question is, will it do a burnout?

    Breathtaking views

Great food by a new chef, just in from Lahore.

It is NOT a 'Boys only' event so feel free to bring your family members

Brunch is courtesy of our senior club member Rehan Afzal (Vanagon Syncro, 1971 Baywindow, VW 1303, VW 1964 and a Golf cabrio)

This event marks the start of the VW 'happening season'. If you haven't driven your VW a lot in the past few months due to the harsh summers, we suggest you get your rides ready. there will be more events in the days to come.

    See you there.
    Great news for Isloos!!!

Its a good initiative as the VW 'happening season' started all over the world.
If I were there I would definitely join you people,, but its also a good sign which prompted us to do something at our end.
So hope INSHA ALLAH in near future we shall also start this all in Karachi.

I for one do not mind this 'four letter word' being used for our bugs. Its on the lips of all....most people in fact do not know what a Volkswagen/beetle/bug is until you use say the magic word.

Anyway, we have had our theories as to why the bug ended up being called a foxy in Pakistan. I vote that because it was often pronounced as 'folks-wagen' the name foxy was kept as a short nick. If you see period German clips, they themselves pronounce it as 'folks-wagen' and not volkswagen. Can someone with a bit of command over German language shed some light on this??

    Default Where are they now...?

Potential junkyard jewels in ISB/RWP. Has anyone seen any of these of late? Can they still be saved?

    @Romano

I saw the white 63/64 Beetle on Peshawar Road myself a few years ago, it wasn't for sale according to the mechanics.

    1. Beige(ish) 63/64 Beetle standing for donkey's years by a house in I-8/4, elderly owner. Rusting away but salvageable, had pop-outs and a Blaupunkt radio, very original with a massive dent on roof.
    Last seen: 2010

    2. Black '61 Beetle (ID no) used to be somewhere in G-6/4, elderly owner. Still had glass tail-lights etc. Decent condition. Owner not selling, but pondering- moved house.
    Last seen: 2009

    3. Red '58 Beetle RHD (RID-85xx) with semaphore slots, stood at a car dealer on Sixth Road RWP in 1998-1999, nearly bought it. Sold for 37k, last seen briefly running in F-10, ISB.
    Last seen: 2006(?)

4.Mauve/Indigo '57-'58 Beetle RHD (ST 24) with semaphores frequently seen in the late 90s in the G-9 area, owner suddenly realized he had a rarity, repainted it in F-10 markaz ca. 2001 and never seen since.
    Last seen: 2001(?)

    Thanks

@MAW786 Great looking condition, this stuff is in. I hope you are taking full advantage of being in Canada for all this time. How much did the snowflake lights cost? I need a rough idea as need a complete pair myself too.

Wow, a bargain. I am sure you would be looking for more such bargains. While you are at it, try and buy an Original Hazet Toolkit for your bugs too. You'll love it.
