Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

It's basically a transmission built to fly along the freeway. It has a first gear. A second a slightly higher ratio third and a long ratio 4th. It essentially adds a few miles per hour while keeping the revs low.

Nasir uncle and Romano have one in each of their cars. They can explain in detail about the ratios if you are interested.

In essence...yes...the goras however give you a brand new tranny. Khalid sahab makes do with what's available...grey matter is getting the upgrade. I'll share the results with you.

I do not know why everyone refers to this car as a Hebmuller replica? A *replica* means a copy, close or very close to the original. I think the proper way to describe this vehicle would be a Hebmuller inspired coupe. We must sound politically correct after all?

Personally, I like this particular car very much. A lot of effort must have gone into its creation which must be appreciated. If I had it my way, I would have gone for the proper convertible version since the hard part of shaping the rear end has already been done quite close to the original thing.

'Wizard roadsters' were created years ago using donor VWs and sported a shorter rear end compared to a Heb. Perhaps you have the two versions confused?

Wizards were built by companies and as kits by hobbyists and enthusiasts and some occasionally turn up for sale in the UK and USA. Hebs are no comparison being ultra expensive vehicles, with less than 100 surviving known examples all over the world.

It was nice to meet you today.

That's some nice original paint in the under tank area. If I were you, Id finish the car in the same shade.

Pl share details on how you are proceeding with the engine work. Im sure you can get much guidance if you post the details. Or rather throw up a separate thread to document the resto.

What year seats do you need?? Beetle seat from 71-72 beetle seats have unique runners and cannot be a direct fit to 70 and earlier Beetles. Post 73 Beetle seats are different altogether.

Pl share a close up picture of the runners on your project's floor pan.

    Hassan,

Please do NOT swap out the genuine bug seats from the Super. Its sacrilege! And, other seats are very often a very poor fit with having to sacrifice rear leg room and what not. Complications complications.

Good thing is, your Super seats can only fit 73 and later VWs so may be useless for bravo

    ^^

The double channel ones are 71-72 type for Beetles. Maybe for the Thing they carried those over to 1973.

Id keep my eyes peeled for what you need. I had seen the earlier kind with someone so had asked you.

Beautiful! You did it!!! The next meet would be with double the number. One tiny bit of suggestion..when parking the cars in similar circumstances you should try (space permitting) to keep a one full open door space between the two cars. I see that Naseem mughal Sb. brought his orange beetle too. Congratulations Karachi dubbers...

Thank you! We aim and hope that this number shall be a *fraction* of what we gather the next time round.

Your suggestion of the space in between each car is very valid both practically (no risk of scratching the neighbors car and ease of getting in n out) and aesthetically (better views of the group)

Shall let you know if I come across those. They are a bit hard to find.

I checked your Thing topic and noted the pan has no seat rails. I hope you have saved the originals when you took out the old halves?? The rails are going to be a very hard find since scrappers very rarely keep the rails as a cut out and put them for sale. Mostly it is weighed off with the metal.

It also allows for space so people can move in between without their jean buttons scratching the car paint.
