Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

Its going to be very very difficult Im afraid.

What you need requires one to be present at the time a car is being scrapped. Like I said, mostly the seat rails are weighed off with the metal. Seats are saved if in good or even reasonable nick as they have a good market, not only for VW nuts but also a range of other (interesting) applications.

Till today, I have managed to grab only 2 pairs of seat rails, one for my ragtop project and one which I passed onto a fellow dubber (holler if you are reading this).......both required constant calls to tie up for viewing actual slaughters so one can grab what one needs. With the way things are in Karachi, worsening Law and Order by the day, it now seems next to impossible.

That's some nice original paint in the under tank area. If I were you, Id finish the car in the same shade.

Pl share details on how you are proceeding with the engine work. Im sure you can get much guidance if you post the details. Or rather throw up a separate thread to document the resto.

Feeling is mutual, it was nice meeting you too. Earlier I had a different color in mind, but Romano convinced me to paint the original shade and you are also suggesting to use the orignal color, so i'll be keeping the original color. will definitely try to keep the updates posted.

I see that Naseem mughal Sb. brought his orange beetle too. Congratulations Karachi dubbers...
Thank you very much. I also joined the meet up but reached bit late so my Bug wasn't captured.

Actually the number of our Bugs never remain the same and increase and decrease all the time except few of ours as I noticed.
So no matter its a tough job to bring out the Bugs from Karachi in huge quantity but we shall definitely try our best and hope in next meet up we shall be gather with much more aircooled rides as this time we planned something grand for our next meet up and for that we all would be in need of your precious suggestions.

Numbers do matter but are not critical. Its the consistency that matters. You guys should try and arrange regular meets..something, however small, like meeting at the local McDonalds for coffee (they have horrible coffee but it was just to give you an idea...btw they usually have ample parking )
Invest in precious metal.....buy a Volkswagen!

Yeah I agree with you,, this year we met just 4 or 5 times like on quarterly basis, but hope our meetings will take place INSHA ALLAH every month.
You advised exactly the same as we planned in our last meeting and hope you'll see us together again & and again.

    ^^

The 1302 looks like a good project but has its fair share of Karachi rust of the kind you'd find in the DHA/Clifton areas. If one has a good bodyshop man, this is a good base.
