Congrats on your discovery and the new acquisition. The road ahead looks long and bumpy (especially when i don't see any transmission or suspension in the rear. I hope you were able to recover that from the scrap heap. The make or break in this case would be the rust the car has. The Karachi cars that I have come across have, without exception, rust in places hard to imagine. In some cases the rust continues to work its way even after the cars were removed from karachi. I guess, a suitable anti-rust treatment would be the way to go after the body work is completed.
What is the deal on the back taxes? Have you or anyone tried to explore the possibility of getting a waiver on back taxes (or at least the penalty) if the car has been off road for a length of time....pictures, death certificate of the owner etc etc. It might be worth its while to check.
A lot of VW's owe Dr. Asad a big thank you for his role in their survival. (not sure if his rag-top shares my sentiment but lets not go there right now..Dr. Asad..hint ..hint..nudge..nudge!!!)
Do let me know if I can be of any assistance. We have recently rescued some good solid cars that would, sadly, be parted out due to missing or incomplete documentation, back taxes etc. PM me your wish list. Sometimes I am not able to respond right away but I do eventually so please bear with me.
Good luck!
