Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

i will update with chassis number hopefully by day end today.

It is those banana shaped vents behind the side window. You see just the indentation in the models that were sold thru Modern Motors in Pakistan as economy models.

It looks like u r on the right track. Since the butterfly is shot, I would suggest you to replace the carb with a new one. Once installed you will feel the difference, fuel consumption will come down to normal. Its no use repairing the butterfly (waste of time and money).

Please keep in touch with VWCOP, who will guide u to turn this gem into a daily driver.

Looks like u r on the right track. I would suggest following:

    1) Replace the carb with a new one. The driving pleasure will be totally different and the fuel consumption to come down. Its no use repairing the the butterfly (I believe those guys of Modern Motors era are no longer there).
    2) Have the car washed thoroughly, polished and waxed.
    3) Consult the best VW mechanic in town and stick to him, please do not run around to different guys. Since you already had a tune up, I believe the technician has already done the tappet adjustment.

Please keep in touch with VWCOP, they can help u turn this gem into a daily driver in no time.

    Thanks a lot Zubeir,

1, the carb was already out for repair yesterday when i posted here it came back and was installed..car drove like anything last night however after pushing it a bit to its limits petrol started over flowing so yeah i have learnt your lesson the harder way..carb is back to mech as i have already paid him for the repair he ll fix it anyway...in the mean time i will look for a new carb.
2, suspension and brakes are next on the check list once mechanics are done with all dirty work, it ll be beautified.
3, i am sticking to one mechanic, he is not very famous but a tried and tested old chap...good part is that since he doesnt have a big set up he get his hands dirty with atleast my rides...

i will surely stay in touch with as many experts as i could because without them i will not be able to learn anything about the car which i already have started since i posted first, thanks

We are pleased to announce a day trip to Charsadda on the invitation of a club member to his ancestral home / farm on Saturday December 21.
We are limiting the group to 12 so early confirmation is essential. This is a family outing. Bring the kids!
    Program is as follows.
    * Leave Islamabad via M1 Motorway at 9.00 am sharp. Meet point Islamabad toll plaza
    * Travel on the motorway to Charsadda - distance of 165 km travel time approx. 2 hours.
    * Arrive at farm house, a tea break and a walk around the farm
    * A visit to the sugarcane field where the cane is crushed the traditional way and the juice boiled up to produce brown sugar and the traditional 'Gur'. This would be of particular interest to the children who may not know the traditional way of making cane sugar and Gur.
    * Return to farm house for a quick lunch and early afternoon departure back to Islamabad.
    * Photography buffs please bring your cameras to capture the sights
    * Beetle pooling is possible if you do not wish to drive yourself. Let us know ASAP if you are considering.
    * Please confirm by e-mailing us at management@vwcop.com
