Default Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

I went to see this car

Toobah the guy said excellent body work

When I called him he said no rust all clean

I went gulshan Ravi and then inside tight lanes only to see a complete rust bucket and the owners son completely arrogant
I could put my fingers through every panel and he couldn't see any rust

From 150 he came down to 140 and I won't move a inch

We had a small get-together over Hi-tea at the Virsa cafe (Lok Virsa complex Shakarparian Islamabad) It rained intermittently all day and we were wondering if the meet should be called off. however the skies cleared for just the right number of hours and we had a great evening. A dozen or so cars turned up along with a couple of Vespas and a beautifully restored BSA bike.

Enjoy the pictures. See you at the next meet.

    Thanks for sharing.

I know every living thing must meet an end, but when it comes to Volkswagens, I cannot seem to accept it. I would like to request fellow V-dubbers to enjoy their VWs to their heart's content and pass it on to the next generation...

if vw tools were being manufactured locally, wouldn't it be safe to say that the revival is heading in the right direction?
another such addition to the made in Pakistan VW tools line...high grade SS pulley wrench tool

for locking the pulley in place to adjust the fan belt tension, a tool developed to do things correctly without bending the pulley. using screw driver doesn't only bend the pulley tabs but imbalances the pulley too, results in short life span of fan belts. this tool eliminates the bending and locks the pulley in place while you correct the fan belt tension

Whoaaaa!!! My O MY!! where did this LH302 surface from? It used to be Orange if i remember it right and belonged to Perry (Yet again if i remember the name right). Our college days, early 80s, Lahore-Iqbal town- moon market - restaurant.... Flash Flash Flash! Used to ogle at this beauty for hours. I remember it had a beautiful Gear stick. Good to see. Always wondered if i'd be able to own one like that. (Am i getting carried away or what). Perry had perhaps left for Australia.

@vikki89 - are you referring to the Thing that's been parked in G8 for evermore? @nmsheikh - I once tried asking the owner of the red 1958 Beetle in Pindi if he'd be interested. Not for less than a million of my hard-earned bucks, came the answer. As I recall, the same car was sold from a roadside showroom near Sixth Road back in 1999, semaphores intact, for 37k on account of transmission issues. Nearly bought it.

It is always the same story... with the best of intentions you approach the owner of a car that you see parked for ages or in need of restoration and offer to buy it. The moment you show interest the cogs in the sellers mind start turning and he comes up with a story that I have heard too many times with minor variations. Some Gora offered me Rs six zeros figure for this car or some person form a far off place in Pakistan offered to exchange it with his new Toyota Corolla or similar or if the owner had recently snorted a few lines of pure coke then " the VW factory offered to buy it back and give me a new model car"..

and of course you walk away because either your father is still alive (maashallah) or he did not leave you the pass code to his off shore accounts where he stashed the ill gotten wealth when he passed away. A few weeks or months later you find out that the same car was sold for a fraction of what you had offered. Only recently I offered the owner of a Type 2 Rs 85,000. The vehicle was dieselised and had extensive hacking done to its front and rear, no seats, the sliding door converted to hinge type and a whole list of other mods. The good thing was that it started life as an original westfalia camper. The roof was still intact and the fiberglass top in place. I meant to chop the top and graft it on my Westfakia.
The owner immediately concocted a story like the one I mentioned above and demanded 250k so I walked away. A few weeks later the same bus was bought by Nisar Kabaria for Rs 55k (reportedly) and put the poor vehicle out of misery by hacking it to pieces and selling for scrap. I believe only the fiberglass top could be rescued by a young fella from Lahore!

HA! Anyone interested to hear my story about quest to rescue the red 66 in street 37, F7/1? Waqas and I stopped to inquire about a Beetle seemingly abandoned by the roadside. Its been there for months. That JI/JUI type brat of a ruiner( is that a word?) did the usual 'my car is NOT for sale, and never will be.' The fact its been pushed out of the house and sits there dust covered, and flat tyred, does not seems to bother him in the least! Uff, for a mercy killing...
